I can make and receive calls about 80% of the time, and service typically shows as 1-2 out of 5 bars of service. Conversations are workable but far from perfect. Cellular One must have just added a tower somewhere near my neighborhood--before February, I typically had 0-1 bars of reception and about 20% of my calls worked. Still, the area is lacking in good coverage. Not sure where the nearest towers are. I don't know about ACS coverage in this area, but my ACS EV-DO wireless broadband works intermittently at my house. EV-DO signal can range anywhere from 0-3 bars (out of 4). When the card loses the high-speed EV-DO carrier and falls back to the slower 1xRTT--which works [almost] anywhere there is voice coverage--the reception shoots up to 4 bars. That makes me think there is an ACS tower very near that simply hasn't been retrofitted with the EV-DO service--but ACS (CDMA) voice service may be good in my area. I do not have an ACS phone to verify this. (If I do verify this, I may end up switching!)
Cell One and GCI (which share the local towers) both suck. Got to be the worst service you can imagine. I swithced to GSM beacuse of the felxibility to change SIM cards when I travel abroad. I wish ACS was GSM also.
Spotty coverage throughout my neighborhood near this intersection. Most of the Abbott-area mid and lower hillside are bad. There's a cell tower at Lake Otis and 72nd, but I don't know who owns it. Obviously not Cellular One.
Just moved from ACS to Cell One. Cell One offered Intra-Network SMS that ACS hasn't been able to fix since they broke it a year ago. ACS had much better voice quality, but no intranetwork SMS. Overall - If you're looking for Voice calls only, go ACS. If you require SMS, go Cell One.
Was told Cingular had very little coverage but I would be able to place calls now Im stuck with a phone that I never get a signal. I need a new cell company.
T- Mobile uses Cellular One (Dobson Cellular Service), but the service is sometimes crapy. The calls don't go through and you have to try a bunch of times before the call goes through. If you have wireless internet on the phone it will not work. no matter were your at. To retrive your voice messages is a mission of it's own. First, because your roaming you can't just call your mailbox, you have to call your own number and get the messages that way. Sometimes the service is slow. But other than that is GOOD!
My reception is alright. It has gotten WAY better since May. I can usually have a conversation with out me having to get disconnected. All n all, I think it is pretty good and they said they will keep improving it.
