My plan morphed over from Cell 1. Since I've seen improvement in the service. Plus the AT&T mobile to mobile free feature is nice. Especially with calling to people in the states. Reception at home has always been great. Traveling in AK of course is spotty away from populated areas. Data with the blackberry is as good as the voice service. I travel outside frequently. Works great down below, and even in Mongolia, though roaming charge are $5 / min.

Alaska Digitel Service cuts out multiple times from Anchorage to Eagle River. It does not work in my driveway in Eagle River or in my house. It does not work in most places around Peters Creek. Alaska Digitel's customer service is HORRIBLE. I am cancelling my service. They are unprofessional, do not follow up, do not take notes in their system and cannot do ANYTHING for their customers.

Good reception throughout Eagle River and Anchorage, even Seward and Girdwood. However, Cingular's Alaska hating plan will kick you off after 6 months of living here. Something about 50% or more of your calls not being on their towers. So much for a nationwide plan. Interestingly enough, Cingular is now AT&T. Anything to save a nickel.

Cell One has the worst service there is, bought a New Razr, paid $250.00, worked 14 days, since it was night, I missed out on the 14 day return. Cell Solutions, kept the phone for 7 months. I changed carries to ACS. Cell-One billed me for not sending in a 30 day written notice. Had to pay to the rip offs to keep my credit good. I turned them in to Better Business, as of yet they have not replied. A word of warning stay away from Cell-One. Or read the fine print, you must give them 30days notice, even if your contract is expired. No service, you still owe the CROOKS.

Have 5-7 of 7 bars normally. Works well. Phone says Cingular Extend, but Cingular has no roam and has roaming agreements with the GSM Cell One partners for which I roam.

i have acs service. its not listed in the category up top so I used Verizon mainly because they are very simular. on page 3 the guy who didnt have good service with Verizon was mainly due to his phone. he had an lg6000 which is a digital only phone. some parts of alaska arnt fully digital yet and most phones can revert back to analog / tdma service. I definatley recommend acs over any carrier in alaska. phone prices are a little higher than gsm but customer service and receptoin are well worth it.

Prior to moving to Alaska, I had Cingular and was spoiled by their excellent service, excellent reception, and long lasting phones. Unfortunately, Cingular does not work in Alaska. Cellular One bought out AT&T up here and has yet to make noticeable improvements. My reception is spotty, customer service is poor (tell them to do automatic payments, and they "forget" so rack up late fees). Dropped calls when you and your partner haven't moved. Busy "redialing" signals at least 4x / week. Unpredictable dead zones. Phone that needs to be replaced each year due to spontaneous "issues" such as complete freeze up, no response from button push, dials repeatedly after hitting the end button. And even response from customer service and tech. support was, "turn it off for a few minutes, then turn it back on" Would LOVE too, if the power button would work! No replacement offered, have to pay for replacement.
