I noticed some people say reception with AT&T is bad, but I've lived here almost two years in fairbanks and was using them before I moved to alaska and am still using them. I get great reception all over town with no problem. I do tend to have a problem in the neighborhood near farmers loop, but I imagine its due to all the trees. I have a go phone with them so I only pay 25 a month with unlimited text and there's no contract. I don't use my phone that much though. If your wondering no I don't work for them and am not getting paid to say this. Lol.Was this review helpful to you?
AT&T is by far the worst carrier in Fairbanks. They overcharge for all of the plans and the "unlimited" plan is the biggest joke. I have lost reception directly across the street from the store on the old steeseWas this review helpful to you?
You can not activate a new Verizon phone in Fairbanks. When phone rings only a couple of time it goes to voice mail. Was this review helpful to you?
Paying for a service that now only rarely works. Dropped calls happen regularly. Trying to get assistance is like dong a root canal with a soupspoon, painful and not worth the effort. I believe Verizon or some other provider is going to get my business. If ATT were serious about their customers, they would provide some semblance of assistance. Sick and tired of paying for nothing... ... .Was this review helpful to you?
Worst reception ever! I get little to none, and what I get is roaming and drops the call every 2 minutes. I've been thinking about leaving T-Mobile for a while, this seals the deal! Was this review helpful to you?
I received and can place telephone calls within Fairbanks and the surrounding area, and have yet to lose service completely. However, the phone only rings a couple of times before going to voicemail, making it difficult to answer before the call is missed. When I first got here, all the features of the plan worked, but it would seem that I no longer receive text messages. I can still send them, but no longer get them. And I couldn't ever send or receive pic messages here. Any advice? A little disappointing since I do lots of quick chatting with fam in the lower 48 via text. I guess if I cant get it back up and working I will just have to drop the text option on my plan. Was this review helpful to you?
Lived here for 5 years and never had a problem with Verizon. May people here have trouble with AT&T from what I hear from my friends. I will never leave Verizon. Was this review helpful to you?
I have PERFECT receptions but I am ROAMNG everywhere I go. I can't make a single call without paying roaming fees! Alltel is merging with Verizon and no one seems to know what the coverage is. This sucks! Was this review helpful to you?
I am getting great reception in the Fairbanks area. I even have a broadband card for my computer and am able to get on line in what is considered an Extended Network. I drove across Canada recently and was in the Extended network in lower BC then started Roaming in Upper BC. I lost all service in Upper BC and all the way through the Yukon. When I reached TOK I got on the Extended network and there were a few dead spots along the Richardson. But otherwise I am quite pleased with Verizon's performance. Was this review helpful to you?
Below average reception outdoors; no reception inside the (log) house. We're near the top of an east-facing hill. Our current cell phones won't take an antenna, so we plan to switch to another phone style and use an antenna indoors. Any carriers interested in putting a cell tower on my property?!Was this review helpful to you?
Coverage is spotty all along CHSR from milepost 1 out to milepost 23. After that, no service. Some places are full 5 bars... some there is no service. Typically, at least 3 bars up to milepost 23.Was this review helpful to you?
PCS (Digital) service throughout Fairbanks and Fort Wainwright. Sometimes it was strong, but sometimes calls would drop in some areas. Also had service on Rich HWY to North Pole, but it was weak in some areas. Reception spotty in North Pole town, but no service the farther you traveled off Rich HWY. Some service on Badger Road, but that depends on where you are in proximity to Fort Wainwright or Rich HWY. NO TEXT SERVICE and no Customer Service ability on the phone, but you can check voicemail. Was this review helpful to you?
Reception here in AK is the WORST! Sprint does have towers in fairbanks but ONLY IN FAIRBANKS as soon as you leave town you are pushed to digital roaming and then analog. The "PCS" service is NOT available here. 8-10-05Was this review helpful to you?
