Even though we are roaming off ACS, the service is great! I had a Samsung before and it didn't pick up anything. The LG phones pick up the best service. The 3G service is fast too.

AT&T has arguably the best reception in Juneau. ACS comes in a close second with a few dead spots which have been noted heretofore. ACS is also lacking at the University of Alaska Auke Lake campus. Reception in the building is abysmal as is reception at the student housing North northeast of campus.

A brand new cell site, like the other one mentioned. AT&T's service is stellar in Juneau. Perhaps this is a prelude to AT&T adding 3G service here! It has been rumored to be installed this fall. Well we're getting awfully close!

Brand spanking new tower on Channel Drive. I'm not certain why AT&T needed this unless they are putting their new Wimax service on it too!

Definitely the best value is ACS Wireless, which Verizon users roam on whilst visiting Alaska. Should you be an ACS Wireless customer, you'll have excellent roaming in Canada at a very reasonable cost if you have purchased ACS's national plan. The same goes for 3G coverage with a wireless card. Very reasonable roaming plan in Canada just next door.

Verizon roams on ACS Wireless in Alaska. Just dropped by the ACS Wireless store, mentioned this web site. They then proceed to tell me that cell coverage at Auke Bay Ferry terminal is greatly improved. So, negate my previous remarks regarding Auke Bay.

Was in Juneau for a week and was able to use my phone pretty much everywhere. Went into Roam a few times but for the most part my phone showed that it was connecting to Sprint network. Could not access any data services at all - which is one of the reasons I went with the model of phone and services Sprint offered. Was able to access voicemail. Will be relocating to Juneau and may have to switch providers to get the data services I use on a regular basis.

I've been in Juneau for five days now, and have been able to make and recieve calls with cellular one on my T-Mobile service just fine. Downtown Juneau seems to be better than out in the valley so far.

Coverage good most places other than my home (at or near the base of thunder mountain). Cant use the phone inside at my house, outside i'm okay, but the whole neighborhood is spotty. Almost anywhere else in town I get 3 to 4 bars and no problems.

Lousy Verizon service here. Not really Verizon, but ACS and their coverage at UAS campus and housing is well below par.

ACS Wireless is the Alaska carrier that Verizon customers roam on. Cellular service for Verizon customers is poor to no reception particularly at the hospital.

AT&T has major downsides in my estimation due to its lack of 3G coverage outside of major urban areas such as Anchorage and the Mat-Su Valley. What can one expect from a major carrier anyway?

ACS Wireless reception, Verizon roams on this Alaska carrier, is virtually non-existent in this area. Don't bother trying to use this carrier in the hospital or in any of the outlying building in the vicinity. Horrible dead spot in this area.

Worst area for reception. Verizon Roams in Alaska on Alaska Communications System (ACS) Wireless. This carrier probably has the best coverage in Alaska. Sprint may also roam on ACS, so coverage ought to be pretty good, at least while near urban settlements. Sometimes there is very good coverage out at sea, but it depends upon proximity to high mountain top cell sites.

Very poor reception in some areas, but for the most part there is NO reception in the building.

There's reception by the door, but once you enter the store there's no reception.

Works only in Valley Neighborhood

Virgin Mobile told me they were on the Sprint network and showed me a map that showed coverage of Juneau. They told me they should work in Juneau. Virgin Mobile does not work anywhere in South East Alaska. I've tried from Skagway to further south than Ketchikan. They never claimed Alaska was their thing, but they did say Juneau.

Zero T-Mobile coverage in all of the Juneau / Douglas and its surrounding areas.
