there is no Sprint coverage in Ketchikan Alaska. You can roam to another carrier, but the data function in both of my Blackberry phones still wouldn't work. I have a Pearl 8130 and my wife has the Curve 8330 and their data works fine in our home town of Memphis, TN. Actually, they started working fine as soon as we got back into Washington state. My Nextel -Sprint only worked in Anchorage, my Blackberry-Verizon worked in Ketchikan, Juneau, most of SE Alaska actually, also in Seward, Kenai, Anchorage, I had some problems between Seward and the Sterling Hwy. intersection but could find a spot somewhere along the way the Verizon would work.

Great coverage in the greater Ketchikan area. Verizon roams on ACS Wireless in Alaska. With their new system, one can make calls when in Prince Rupert, BC, Canada. I'm guessing Canadians (Telus Mobility customers) who roam onto ACS aren't too happy about it when they receive their bills.

I have had Cellular One Service here for several years. The reception is excellent except when you get south past Saxman and North past North Pt. Higgins Road. No reception at either end. Saxman is intermittent as well, depending on where you're standing.

I was never able to receive a signal anywhere in or near Ketchikan, nor were any other of my Nextel carrying colleagues.

Cell one and ACS have nearly worthless coverage in Ketchikan. Coverage is ok if you are downtown, standing outside, other than that forget it. Many in Ketchikan would consider owning a cell phone if the situation were to improve.

Pretty Good. Easily the best around here.
