As with all wireless services, most of the time, life is good. Alltel has served me well both locally and while roaming, and I do travel a lot. In the Auburn / Opelika area, my personal 'dead spots' are South of Auburn on Society Hill Road, Northwest of Auburn towards Dadeville and sometimes a brief blip or occasional call drop around the Krystal at the Auburn / Opelika border. I also have the KPC650 mobile Internet card and it works nicely; not quite like a cable modem, but for being wireless, I cannot complain. All in all, Alltel has been perfectly acceptable.

I roam like mad crazy in major cities like atlanta where I am interning as well as chicago, connecticut, new york and all that. I only get good reception when I am in my local area, tuskegee, and thats ridiculously small. Everywhere else I go its roaming roaming roaming and I have the international whatever plan which is a bunch of dead donkey balls. Alltel is a complete scam and I wouldnt recommend.

I have had very little luck with Cingular in Auburn, I have been in the store and not had one bar of service. I always joke that Cingular says on their commercial that they have the fewest dropped calls. The reason being is that people can never get through to call me. I can be sitting in class and sit in one chair and have perfect signal, 2 seconds later nothing. Everyone else in the room has great service. Cingular / AT&T sucks.

Sometimes it is hard to even get a signal in some parts of Auburn, let alone one strong enough to talk. On Wrights Mill, near Health Plus, and the Mall. Just to let T-Mobile know, it was most likely AT&T that was the problem.
