I hate AT&T and have for years. Great commercials but consistently drop calls, in the last year I no longer have a signal at my home on Red Mountain, tired of calling to complain and investing time into negotiating price breaks for non service and deplore the AT&T arrogant attitude. They screwed me on my Internet package and so I dropped that and landline and soooo look forward to changing cell to another carrier. Will NEVER EVER be another AT&T customer again.

I live in the area and have seen coverage deteriorate over several years. Every time I begin using the phone, only 1 bar is available, often increasing to 2 or 3 as I make a call or access the Internet. It is now very rare to see 4 or 5 bars. I have had to ask callers to repeat themselves because of audio drop-outs. About 1 call in 7 is not placed on the first try. I conclude that AT&T has added local customers, but not capacity to serve them. (Or perhaps they don't want customers to feel they can do without their land lines, provided by AT&T.)

Signal bars go all over the place (from 1 to 5 to 3 to 5, etc.) all the time. I've had the same problem for 9 years and all I get from AT&T (previously Cingular) was that they are improving towers all the time.

I just moved to this house. Reception is very poor-sometimes no reception in the house. AT&T told me it must be the house. However, I have spotty reception outside as well.

There is absolutely no reception here with ATT. I can stand in the middle of the street, with no high-rise buildings in sight, on a cloudless day, and consistently still get 0 reception. This is just behind Dreamland BBQ.

So, just the fact that I have a TREO, should give you an idea of how this story goes..;-) The TREO (Company Issued-Not by Choice) has some major issues when it comes to voice communications, I have consistent dropped calls on Patton-Chapel road, especially near the area of New Construction on Patton Chapel, also at the bridge crossing over Shades Creek... These are low levels that seem to lose signal no matter what...

I have tried multiple phones, and carriers. Cingular, Nextel / Sprint, Southern link, Verizon. Poor to no service in this area and all the companies give you the run around. Bottom line, cell companies want your money! They all give you the run around, when they switched from the old analog with few frequencies, to digital with more they got greedy, quality and service took a back seat and seperating you from your money took priority! If they're lips are moving, its a lie! They make used car salesmen look like saints!

CINGULAR SUCKS! I switched over from AT&T because they had no reception and Cingular said they would have better coverage in Alabama. Not only is that untrue, but to be calling themselves the Wireless company with the least dropped calls is downright lying.

We cannot use our phones inside our house. We have to go outside on the patio, and even then, it's very spotty, at best. Most times, I have to call back the person on a land line to continue the conversation. There are some pockets of reception throughout our lot, but it's not very consistent.

Remember, having a cell phone store right next to your house means nothing. Towers provide the signal, and these are rarely (if ever) close to a store.

I use TracFone. They use Cingular. My phone is an old refurbished one. I get EXCELLENT reception just about everywhere with two(2) exceptions. Near Marion, AL is nonexistant and in the Cullman, AL area it's very poor, due to the mountains. I would recommend Cingular to anyone. The reason I chose TracFone is that I use my phone mostly for EMERGENCIES and I did NOT want a contract or monthly fee.

Just got this Motorola V220 phone and did away with my Motorola V120t phone. Also, I switched from the TDMA network to the GSM network. I still get great reception. I drive all throughout the Jefferson, Shelby, and Chilton county areas and very rarely does my signal go below one bar. Everyone else I know who has Nextel or Verizon complains about getting cut off or having bad reception half the time. Cingular does have great coverage; but, like any other company making a sale, you ALWAYS have to read the fine print. Compare coverage area maps from Verizon, Nextel, Cingular, and T-Mobile and you will see that Cingular covers, by far, more area than the rest, especially on the Nation GAIT plans which cost more but are worth it.
