Great service with Verizon. Data has been iffy, but talked to someone working on the tower in Killen the other day and they are about to launch 4G in the area soon and said that service will be iffy until they get the 4G antennas installed on the towers which shouldn't be much longer. Said it will be 100% live in May. Can't wait!

Verizon has changed. Actually worse now. After over a year with multiple trouble tickets lost and ignored someone finally sent out to tower and area. Now they are claiming we are within half mile of tower and supposedly are having so called umbrella effect so NO service of any kind. We have always had unlimited data plan so they are basically providing crap service to get us to cancel which they actually suggested we do. At the same time they admitted finally that we are definitely not getting data or even cell service paid out at over 350 monthly they are refusing to credit service they said they know we are not getting! They just keep repeating that we should cancel service sheesh. So that is how they are getting out of grandfathered unlimited data plans which is by providing service so bad that dialup is faster; they never did explain the crappy call service either.

This so called service with Verizon is totally pathetic, regardless of IF they have any towers around. The first month of service out here I got 4-5 bars; afterwards it is 'good' to even get 3, usually get 2 or worse. This does not count the 2 or 3 major outages they have had, not that I can tell most of the time since my so called service is always pathetic and usually non-existant. This goes for phone service as well as {especially} the supposed 3G service; as in, what service? Rarely can the phone{s} go on the internet, which is pathetic considering the one phone by itself runs 80 bucks a month before taxes which supposedly includes making phone calls and internet service on the phone. There is supposed to be at least decent service out in Killen but no where in the area do the phones work anywhere near what they are supposed to, nor any closer to the TN state line {a very few miles down the road}. Even going the other way, toward Florence or actually in Florence or the other 3 cities the best that can be said for their 'service' is pathetic. It can't be the specific phones; his kid's has been switched at least twice, his has been switched 4 times {droid x} then to the droid 3, and mine has been switched 5 times just so far. That one had the fourth reported as still not working, a fifth sent which wouldn't even make phone calls, now waiting for an actual replacement for the 4th one that is getting even worse. I would just go on about the phoneS until it was replaced with a tablet since tablets don't make phone calls which none of my actual phones want to do anyway, but with such crappy internet there is no way it would be worth paying outrageous 80 bucks a month to stare at a brick which it would be since the internet through Verizon bites regardless of the electronics. I believe Verizon should be hit with a class action lawsuit by all the people who PAY for SERVICE but yet never really get any regardless of outrageous fees every single month. The so called customer service has always been a joke, a bad one.

AT&T was horrible! In front of Brooks High School I would ALWAYS loose service! Verizon is the only service who has towers everywhere around here. My calls always were dropped with AT&T. Walmart, the mall is a dead zone! I love Verizon. Im happy I made the switch.

Verizon has put up a lot of towers in north Alabama in the past year which makes the coverage the best in our area now. Just got rid of AT&T, could not get ANYTHING out here. Verizon I get all 4 bars! Verizon is also the only network with 3G (EVDO Rev A) service in our area! (It will say this on your cell: EV ) 1X )

Below average reception in Lexington / Greenhill areas along Al. SR64. I also had 2 dropped calls along SR101 between Wheeler Dam and Town Creek the other day. We need a few more towers added in the North Alabama area, especially along the AL / TN line.
