T-Mobile has excellent coverage in the backwaters between Columbus, Valley, Opelika and Auburn. The T-Mobile web site has a new updated coverage maps that can zoom in on each tower and it's radiation pattern. Dead zones - Lee Rd.(LR) 182 in a low lying spot prior to Lee Rd.158. Another spot down the same road as LR158 becomes LR183. T-Mobile use to be PowerTel before transitioning to Voice Stream then T-Mobile and the owner of then-PowerTel is located on Lake Harding and there is a "well" placed tower there, a place you wouldn't look for a GSM tower, when literally all the rest of them are up and down I-85, I-185 and US 80, US 280-431, US29 and US27. T-Mobile has an articulation agreement with Cingular to share it's GSM towers as does Unicell in Rural Alabama. I use an ancient Timeport P7382 and it continues to do be a workhorse and it's voice quality is excellent; something I cannot say about the Nokia 6010 when we upgraded our phones recently prompting me to stay with my Motorola cell phone, and if you think the Timeports are old, I have a Select 2000e, the size of a brick and it too works to this day!

T-mobile has excellent coverage throughout Opelika's East and North sides. One drop zone on Veterans (1 / 2 mile North of radio station). Dr.to Phenix City: no dead zones, but high power lines over Hwy. 280 / 431 near I-85 does sometime cause interruptions. Ditto for another location approx. North of Smiths (due to low spot of roadway. No problems whatsoever throughout Auburn-Opelika metro area.

Well, I was promised that the reception problem would be fixed by 6PM yesterday, after they finished doing work on the towers... . but this new phone does very little. It is a nice expensive paperweight. Sprint no no longer offers great customer service as they did in the past. I have been a customer for over a decade. They can't seem to help me in any way. Sad Company.

I just got this new phone and I have had very poor service since May 5, 2012 when I purchased it. After several calls to the local store as well as the corporate office, I am being told that the problem is with the towers and will be resolved tonight by 6:00 pm. Hoping this is true. Need to rely on my phone!

Trying to find a carrier where I can get reception on Hwy. 51 in Beuregard. I believe Verizon works out there, but I hate to lose my Treo investment. Nextel is hit and miss. There is a tower by the old fire tower with 2 units on it, but I don't know who they are.
