3 bars or less most places. Very slow data reception. Dropped internet connections or can't connect. Repeatedly tried servicing our 4 phones. Same terrible service for 3 years. Recently a friend did RF field strength neasurements in Hampton Cove, Jones Valley, UAH, downtown, medical district, and Costco. Everywhere measures -80 to -100. In most cities you get -50 to -70. ATT is purposely underpowering all towers in Huntsville. Even 50 yards from the cell tower located at the University ATT store, the signal is -84, and it should be -60. They won't tell me why they run such a weak signal in this city. It's very strange. Alabama is their stepchild They keep promising improvements and do nothing. We are gradually switching to Verizon as contracts expire. Will have to sell several ATT iphones on eBay. I recommend NEVER signing a contract with ATT if you do business or live in Huntsville.

I only drop a signal at the top of Monte Sano Mtn. Other than that, I get great coverage for a great price.

Occasionally we get reception, but only until we move 1 millimeter. High Point Mtn apparently blocks Verizon signal, which tower I assume is on Monte Sano. Had no luck with T Mobile or Sprint here, and Cingular got bad before we switched 2 yrs ago to Verizon. Totally dissatisfied with all of them. May go naked for awhile (i.e. no cell phone).

I've experienced reliable connections throughout the huntsville area. I have noticed a few weak spots in outlying areas like the North East sections of Hampton Cove, and in dense urban areas like Govenor's Drive near the hospital. I use Verizon Wireless as my primary phone service. My wife and I share a family plan with no problems in the past eight months (written 12/04/2004).
