Can't ever get good reception in my apartment. Seriously needs to be fixed. I have found that is not just me. Many friends that are AT&T costumers, rarely have good service.

Very, very poor reception in our neighborhood. Often only one bar or no service at all. We are not in a low area. Call tower only half mile away. We are extremely dissatisfied with AT&T.

half the places I go INSIDE the city limits of tuscaloosa the reception sucks. I have never had service with anyone other than at&t. for 15 years the service gets worse ever year. we even bought a phone for our daughter in law because her AT&T cell wouldnt work where she travels back and forth to work... .. if AT&T spent as much money on there towers insted of telling us how good there network is this site wouldnt be covered in complaints about there service !

Crappy service since AT&T took over my phone turns itself off then right back on sometimes stays off miss calls get voice and text 3 hrs later customer service has replaced the phone 3 times we have reset, restored, replace battery, charger, sims card, left memory card out still under warranty now AT&T says weve tried everything nothing else to do the idiots dont know there own products, they tried to send me over to talk with Samsung for an additional charge of $9.99 a month for serviceing the piece of crap phone told them to shove it ask for my contract buy out which my new contract was just 5 months old so it was $420 to switch which is worth it compare to paying $2000 to stay in and finish out, so we are going to Verizon.

AT&T reception is poor. Frequently I get a "no service" symbol on phone instead of the weak one or two bar display. Must talk next to a window or go outside in order to communicate. Called AT&T support to complain and had to yell because they could barely hear me! Looking forward to contract expiration. Never again AT&T.

Half the time even though my phone displays 3G and full bars my phone wont work right. It takes forever to get text messages. One day I received a text 3 1 / 2 hours later. Game weekends, don't even think about trying to use your phone. You'll be sadly disappointed. I'm really considering switching to Verizon. My roommate has Verizon and never has any signal problems.

Northport / Tuscaloosa's reception is totally awful. On a clear sunny day in July when the University it out (20K students gone) you can get about 3 bars of signal and make a call. The remaining 80% of the year signal is dodgy at best, maintaining a call while on the road is almost impossible- phone drops the call. The 3G is dodgy, If you've used a 3G connection it atlanta, or any other major city on the same phone, you'll notice speeds about 3Xs faster, why? I cannot say- Tuscaloosa's 3G is like Wireless G compared to Wireless N. (its a metaphor not a comparison) In summation, Verizon works great in Tuscaloosa, AT&T, well... it works, if you don't mind dropping calls, waiting for 20 minutes for a page to load on your smart phone, and waiting 30 minutes to receive a reply to your text message.. so they're not false advertising, they're just not delivering what you'd expect.

I get 2 sometimes 3 while outside in my yard but inside I only get 1 bar if I'm lucky. Also I am inside the city limits and live up on a hill. There are several dead spots around my house like at dollar general, near mistywood and peach grove you dont get reception until you start up the hill at heatherwood gadens or going the other way reception comes back around golden acres and walmart on skyland service is REALLY bad inside the store. Really bad considering before I moved here I lived way out in the county about 2 miles down a dirt road and had the full 5 bars??

Excellent reception has replaced spotty reception of 2 yrs ago. Cingular is the best for traveling in rural areas in West Alabama.

I usually have to go outside to make or receive a call. I can sometimes hear inside, but a complete conversation requires the better reception outside.

Cingular is quite good around the Tuscaloosa area. I work in a new building on the UA campus and it seems like only Cingular gives a signal inside the building. I've driven throughout Alabama and Mississippi and Cingular's GSM coverage is very good. In terms of coverage, it's improved greatly in the past year. However, in southern Alabama (especially north of Mobile), there are still areas where Cingular coverage is spotty. Also, Cingular has higher speed EDGE data transfer in Alabama, which is great if you use your cell phone to access the internet from your computer. I tried Sprint a couple of years ago and found its coverage in the Tuscaloosa area at that time to be very bad.
