I live 1.4 miles, as the crow flies, from the nearest AT&T tower which is located on West St. in El Dorado. Reception is bad. Unless I stand next to a window or go out on my porch, I can count on a dropped call - every time.

At my home I'm lucky if I can get one bar and then its when I am standing on one leg, touching my nose, and holding the phone in the air! Same goes for when I am at my boyfriend's house in Norphlet. He has to stand outside in one or two spots and "Dont Move"! Verizon was the "Can you hear me now, good" And its more like, "CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW? NOW?, WHAT? HOLD ON... CRAP!" I have had it when it was Alltel and I didnt care for signal then but I really do think it was better. All Verizon did was come in jack up the prices and give you a bunch of people who have no clue what they are doing. I love some of the people at the store here in El Dorado, they are great, but even they will tell you they are not sure about a lot of the stuff Verizon has, does, or is getting. I have heard that Straight talk works off the Verizon towers but everyone that I know says it has better signal, customer service, a lot less every month, and the phones are getting better. I hate to not have my touch screen but I have had problems out of it since I got it and I am really tired of dealing with Verizon. I wouldnt mind going to AT&T but I have had people tell me they are just as bad if not worse.

I do live in a rural area, but I live in an area with several towers. Area frequented are El Dorado, Mt.Holly, Norphlet, Smackover, roads are Hwy. 82, Hwy. 335, Hwy. 7, Hwy. 167, and several local streets, county roads, and such. Sprint service has gotten so terrible in my area that we hardly ever make a call or receive a call that isnt dropped. Just to be able to get one or two sentences out, 4 or 5 calls have to be made. I dont know if its the phones we have or if its the service but IT IS HORRIBLE! As soon as my contracts are up, I have 2 lines, I am switching to a more reliable providers since Sprint refuses to help us with this problem after we have been loyal customers of them for 6 yrs now. Seems funny how loyal customers that pay their bills get shafted when it comes to good service and deals.
