Great coverage when we had Alltel. Since Verizon bought them out, we have ONE phone that we can use at home... sometimes... out of FOUR. (We have tried two others) Calling Verizon is about like talking to a tree. Might make you feel a little better but thats about it. They SAY that if you switch to a Verizon phone and update your plan it will be better. I'm not buying that. Even if it were true, that is shoddy business practice. Buy a company then force your new customers to upgrade in order to receive adequate service! I travel much of the state and have similar problems with coverage by Verizon. I often travel highways with NO SIGNAL for an hour or more. Plan to switch back to AT and T or another company when contract expires in a couple of months.

Used to have Alltel and switched to Verizon when they were bought out, have almost perfect reception everywhere in the Fayetteville and surrounding area's, althoughwhen you get out to extremely Western Arkansas, mostly out past Lincoln, service is a little sketchy, but I have fairly good reception a lot of places my friends with other providers don't have any.

Seldom have I had an issue with call quality in town. I've had Cingular / AT&T for years and their service has always been good in town. Going to or from some of the smaller cities in the area is not as good though, such as going to or from Elkins / Lincoln etc.

Although T-Mobile has great reception in the Bentonville / Rogers area it does not extend well to the Fayetteville / UofA campus area. I initially had a dual-band phone and was told that I needed a quad-band phone for it to work well in the area. This helped a bit, but not by much. However once the phone loses the T-Mobile network (zero bars), it immediately picks up ATT's network and the call clarity if great. But this story doesn't have a good ending... This week I received a letter from T-Mobile stating that my service will be discontinued as the majority of my calls over the last few months have been outside my calling area (or rather, outside the T-Mobile network - on ATT's). So although I was getting great reception once my T-Mobile phone picked up ATT's network, apparently I am costing T-Mobile more than what they're getting from me. So basically, T-Mobile reception sucks in this area, but they have the best customer service of any cell phone provider I've been with.

I have had no problems with Alltel when it comes to reception. They're not very nice when it comes to overcharging me for phone calls I didn't make, but the reception is perfect, even when I'm in Los Angeles or at home. the coverage inside the physics department at the U of A or at the HPER is a little shady and I often lose reception, but overall, I like it

I often miss calls and get notification after the fact. I also am not always notified of new voicemail. The customer service is truly awful and their lack of concern is beyond reproach.

Its the worst service I've ever had. And if you call and ask Cingular about it they will tell you they don't know what going on. Now that they've gone together with AT&T it's gotten even worse. They have way to may cell phones running on there frequency and they aren't prepared. I get messages like 14 DAYS after the person called!

Constant Roaming AT&T Wireless & Cingular. Seems like their service / reception is also spotty / sloppy. May need to get a GPS / Sat Phone to work in this area!

I live in Fayetteville and work in Bentonville and I have been very pleased with my switch from Verizon / Alltel to AT&T several months back. My girlfriend and I (she has a Samsung) always seem to have a great signal traveling around Fayetteville, up I-540, etc. It is imperative that I have cell service at all times for work, and I'm comfortable camping at Beaver Lake with AT&T's service, which has been very reliable up there (including data use). The only place where I've had issues is where I work, in one of the larger buildings in downtown Bentonville. I have a dropped call, perhaps once or twice a month, while making calls from there and data service is considerably slower. At home here in Fayetteville, the service is perfect. This, coupled with Verizon's pathetic customer service, is why we're glad we switched.

Horrible reception. Might as well not have service. Not sure which carrier to switch to.
