NO SERVICE south of airport, five bars of TELCEL from Mexico. All this AFTER I purchased an iphone 3gs and AT&T assured me I would have excellent coverage.
Always have very good reception all over Bisbee. Sometimes it can take over a minute for the phone to search out a connection, but once it does it is great. Even indoors in Old Bisbee.
In downtown Old Bisbee, I only get reliable reception in the open area between the post office and the convention center. When on Border Rd, I was able to send a text message once, but usually I have zero bars or else I'm connecting to a network in Mexico.
Virgin piggybacks the Sprint threpeat network. I've had excellent coverage in all parts of the downtown canyon and other burroughs of Bisbee. I didnt realize the shortcomings of other carriers until I got a Nextel phone from my job. Even though Sprint and Nextel merged, Nextel phones bounce off different towers and have CRAP reception. Virgin Mobile and Sprint phones have been ahead of the game since the first cell tower 5ish years ago. Rare disturbances during general Sprint network crisies or rare extreme monsoon weather.
