You can't go wrong with Alltel. I have had them for 10 years and have never had a problem with dropped calls or bad reception. Calling from other states is a charm... ..I would never switch my service as long as Alltel is in business.

I've had Alltel for about 6 years and never had a problem with my plan until these last two years. Alltel drops calls all the time. I have about one dropped call every other day or every few days. I like the detailed billing, I never have problems with payments but the constant dropped calls outweighs everything else. My contract is up today so I will be switching to another phone company.

No matter where I am at, I have great reception. Even better when I had the LG. The model of phone will improve your reception, but myself and my family have been with Sprint, Qwest, Cingular, t-mobile, and verizon, none of Which have the reception that Alltel does. All the way from Phoenix to Laughlin, thru the mountains I had reception. In the elevators at work I have perfect reception.

If you use coverage as the utmost criteria for selecting a carrier than Alltel is the way to go. I have been an Alltel customer for more than 10 years with ALMOST no complaints about their coverage. I have had coverage where other users have not. From here in Phoenix to Prescott, Page, Horseshoe Lake, LA, Chicago, Denver and even a place called Steamboat Lake in the nether regions of Northern Minnesota near Bemidji (just this side of Canada) and Honolulu Hawahii. Coverage is unbeatable. Customer service however is another story. They USED to be tops but it seems that they have slipped quite a ways down the ladder. They USED to do everything in their power to keep their customers happy but in the last few years they have developed the attitude that if you aren't happy then go somewhere else. I am currently exploring my options in that regard. Being from the "old school" I will sacrifice some coverage in order to find someone who actually WANTS my business and is willing to earn it. Not having a lot of luck so maybe I am going to strike out evenutally.

This is the second year I've come to this area and had bad service. Have one bar. AT&T claims I'm in the middle of 3 towers. Ha! Had great signal at the phone center store where the rep took out my battery and then put it back in. Very slow internet over the mobile network and dropped calls even before it connects.

Recently switched to Cingular from Qwest. Never had a problem with Qwest. Cingular has been a nightmare, and it's the worst in my home. I made the mistake of going exclusively with a cell and dropping the landline. Talking in my home now is near impossible. Constant dropped calls. The person on the other end of the line gets very poor reception causing me to have to call back frequently. Cingular rep stated "it's the nature of the beast". My response was "why does the beast live in my house". Cingular service is nonexsistent, no call backs when promised and the store will not help. The in store reps tell me I have to call customer service which I find unacceptable, especially when I am told the problem will be looked into and then never hear another word. Unfortunately for me I'm stuck with this bad service for another year and a half. Very very dissappointed with Cingular in the Phoenix area. I cringe everytime I see one of their blatantly misleading commercials. I would strongly recommend steering clear of Cingular.

I had great reception in Southern California with AT&T. When I moved to far northwest Phoenix, it was terrible in the house. I switched over to the Cingular network, it didn't help. I have to go outside to make calls which is always fun when it is 110 degrees. Complaints to Cingular tech support are a waste of time. The local store did let me borrow a Razor to see if I got better reception with it, but it only improved to 2 bars instead of one or the always exciting Emergency Service Only. I actually live in the middle of the block on Soft Wind Dr. between 45th and 47th Avenues. Reception improves once I start traveling east down Pinnacle Peak, or get past Thunderbird Park into the Arrowhead Lakes area or go north to Happy Valley. Neighbors with Verizon don't have these problems. As soon as my plan is up this fall, I will be switching, but only to a company that lets me test a phone at my home first.
