T-Mobile
At home (19th Ave, south of Dobbins, up against South Mountain) I get no reception. I have to go out on the balcony to even get a bar. And anywhere around town is a hit and miss. Even when I have a few bars, I tend to get a poor connection. Maybe its time they stop putting games and cameras on these phones and just focus on getting them to connect properly!

AT&T
Tried two different phones after upgrading and still no service. tried calling home from mt. Shadows and the reception was terrible, kept breaking up. Best to said for Cingular is that it's not worth even looking into, service is virtually nonexistant.

T-Mobile
I have been with T-Mobile since they were VoiceStream and the service has improved greatly in 4 years. I travel all over the country and have never had an issue while I was on their network. Anytime I am using a Cingular network however, that is a different story... . The rest of my family is on AT&T, which is now Cingular and I refuse to talk to them on their cell phones. They are constantly dropping calls and get no service here or in Utah. What a waste that merger was. I am trying to convince them to switch over to T-Mobile, but have had little success. They are eating up the lies Cingular is telling them about how service is going to improve.

Verizon
Great Reception around all of Phoenix. Got 5 bars of signal with Verizon while my Cingular phone had no signal at all.

AT&T
I spent a week at the mentioned location, and the minute I turned off of 48th street into the location I was working, I lost all signal. I was not able to use my Cingular phone and had to forward all calls to a Verizon cell phone.

AT&T Wireless (TDMA)
I have had hardly any problems whatsover with AT&T tdma in all of greater phoenix, except in some buildings. I usually have signal where no other people do though

Worst experience I've ever had. Cingular will do nothing and I cannot use my phone in my home.

Alltel
Had Alltel for years and never had any major problems. Once ever couple months it won't connect a call right away but rarely drops calls and I am all over the valley. Customer service has always been helpful. When out of town in SoCal, Vegas, or on the road, pretty much 100% coverage. I'm shopping around carriers right now (why I'm on here) but I keep saying to myself "why am I considering leaving when I have no problems?". It seems everyone has good and bad with all the carriers but in my case, if it's not broke, don't fix it.

AT&T Wireless (GSM)
i have terrible reception in most of phoenix. AT&T was okay when I used the tdma, but I got a new phone that used gsm and it went way downhill. then they merged with Cingular and it's almost useless now. on maryland and 16th street, I have to walk away from the building I work at and stand in the street to get 2 bars. at home I always have 2 bars. driving down 15th ave between camelback and glendale I have zero signal. if I stand more that 3 feet from the north side of my home I lose my signal. I have to move 100 or so feet on the south side to pick up a signal... if tv can make it through your walls, how come a cell phone signal can't? i'm waiting impatiently for my agreement to end so I can switch to someone else. cingular / att must put very short towers in small valleys so the signals get blocked by every little rise.

AT&T
Cingular has to have the WORST technical support and GSM reception. I have more dropped calls and have received "NO" technical support. They say the problem is Motorola. Motorola says it's Microsoft. I say it's Cingular, especially since I've had 4 MPX200 phones in 2 weeks and they all constantly shut on and off. Had the same phone for 20 months with no problems. Ya think Cingular changed something on their network. They don't. They just play the blame game.

Sony Ericsson 700a I have great reception in all of Ahwatukee and Foothills. Except inside business buildings. I drop down to two lines. I drop every call on 40th / mountain parkway heading north to ray going up the hill, or coming down the hill. other then that, I never drop calls. I live on the preserve and have 5 bars all the time in my house.

AT&T
In my house I get NO reception... .outside I get maybe one bar... .but if I go a mile away in any direction I get a good strong signal... .I think it is the phone... it only has an internal antenna... .I used to have Qwest here and had a perfect signal all the time... too bad they didn't have other things I wanted.

T-Mobile
Okay how should I put this? I think I should just put the ratings as good to average when it is "good" but below average because it jumps so much everywhere. Sound reception is sometimes way clear, sometimes kinda jumpy also. Outside the apartment, within the apartment complex... 3 to 5 bars (X800) and 2 to 4 bars (855). In the apartment (we live on the second floor, can you imagine what it would be like if we lived on the first floor, what the steel structure would do to the signal bars hehehe) the living room, kitchen, dining room, computer room 2 to 4 bars (X800) and 1 to 3 bar(s) (855)... so that is too not bad, right? Bedroom... 00000 to max bars. Talk about moody jumping jellyfishes or flying chipmunks running away with the bars? Cute huh??? Aaaaarghhh... Going to W. Buckeye Rd. and back sometimes the signals all just disssssapppear... to come back maxed out to 5 (X800) and 4 (855) again. Sometimes when T-Mobile is making me think I live in a dreamland fairytale the bars jump to 5 (max) on the X800 and to 4 (max) on the 855... where ever in and out of the apartment and on the streets... but only so for a minute or two... hehehe. Both phones act the same so nothing wrong with the phones... Or maybe... the poem "Nothing Gold Can Stay" is the best way to put it about the T-Mobile reception bars?

Qwest
There is no reception in this neighborhood with any of the carriers I've tried: Qwest, Cricket, Sprint, Cingular, Verizon or T-Mobile. City of Glendale owns a water treatment plant there - a cell company can make some $$ if they rent some antenna space. If you need to continue your call, park at Pyramid Peak (~63rd Ave) and Pinnacle Vista.

Alltel
Reception with Alltel is great. My husband as AT&T / Cingular, and rarely gets reception when I have full reception (he's tried 3 different phones with AT&T). Whenever we travel, I will have great reception, and he will have NOTHING, nada, no bars at all. Sometimes I will not get reception inside the house, but it's the same for absolutely everyone who enters the house.

Verizon
Verizon reception is excellent through most of Phoenix.

Sprint
Horrible reception - when the phone rings, you are immediately dropped upon answering it, everytime without fail. There is also no reception in the 24th and Camelback corridor. It's useless having a cell phone when you use Sprint.

AT&T Wireless (GSM)
I get great reception outside my home in Desert Ridge, but for some reason, the minute I step inside my house, I do not get incoming calls (straight to voicemail even though phone shows 1~2 bars)... Outgoing calls get dropped. ATT and Cingular GSM is useless... People may think "Internatioal phone service", but GSM is a horrible technology. If you want international cell phones, Verizon is coming out with CDMA / GSM dual band phones soon... Sign up with Verizon, because visitors to my house in Desert Ridge get full reception and all calls with Verizon...

AT&T Wireless (GSM)
Most of the time there are 0-1 bars. On the rare occassion it has 3 bars that signal is dropped when the other person picks up the call. Going outside helps but if the wind blows the bars drop. Others with other carriers get reception with no problem while in the same room. Switching carriers soon.

Wow. I stayed in couple of places around Phoenix already, this is not bad at all except a few dead zone in Arizona Mill's Virgin Mega and Scottsdale Fashion Sq's Macy Level 1, IKEA some area as well. Hope Sprint will fix it soon.
