We get great reception at home (indoors and out) on what I consider to be an old phone that is about to die. Haven't had any reception problems in the general Phoenix area since we moved here six months ago. Haven't heard of any other carrier that can beat VW's coverage, sadly; since it is time to get a new phone and Verizon's selection of phones is so limited compared to other carriers. But - bottom line- VW has the coverage and that's what is most important to us.

I must practice patience when using the phone at home. When we first moved here I thought it was dead zone city, I now understand why all my neighbors in circle their property outdoors walking from place to place, the street toward my house, around the corner... they (like myself are trying to keep up the signal so the call won't be dropped. A typical call that would take 10 minutes, takes hours to complete. I usually give up. I don't know if another carrier would be any better.

There is a Verizon cell tower 3.42 miles due south of this location but reception and transmission is very poor at this site. I just terminated my Verizon contract with the cooperation of Verizon because the service at this location is sub-par.

Signal strength fluctuates anywhere from none to five rapidly. Degrades so bad calls drop frequently. I don't even bother using the phone at home. Receives data ok.

I wrote the previous Cingular / Motorola Razr review. I have since talked to another person at the carrier. After pressing a bit and telling them I believe the network was at fault and not the phone, the rep took some time to look at some coverage maps. She said that, indeed, I was right. I had good outside coverage, but poor indoor coverage. I asked her when they planned to roll out network improvements, but she said she had no way of getting that information. I understand that previous cellphone tower technology isn't as good as newer technology at penetrating buildings. At first, I thought I didn't really like the Motorola Razr (looking at demos). After having one of my own - I really like it. Unfortunately only Cingular and T-Mobile offer it. Those two carriers also have network sharing agreements ---and as such, in my area, I won't receive better coverage with T-Mobile. Que sera. I left Verizon as they had poor customer service. Now I have to think about going back to them, or trying Sprint (both have decent coverage here).

I just received my new Motorola RAZR V3 and Cingular service yesterday. Mostly one to two bars in my house. Sometimes jumps to three or four. But even so, it drops just about every call, and sometimes cannot even manage to dial out (indicates call failed). Cingular is blaming the poor connectivity on the phone rather than the network. I think they are wrong, but I'm willing to try (and I actually hope it works). I have noticed that other phones using the Sprint and Verizon networks work well in my house. Side-note: A Cingular salesperson said that they have network sharing agreeements with T-Mobile. I don't see any T-Mobile towers near me and suspect that they might be using Cingular's.

AT&T / Cingular does pretty well here, but there are many spotty areas. It is Sun City Grand. I have heard some people say that Verizon is the best here, but since I have been using Cingular, I can't compare.

Calls continue to drop while trying to carry on a conversation inside my home. Outside is a little better but they still get dropped. I've had the Samsung replaced once already. Could Luke Air Force Base have something to do with the problem?
