My top floor condo is right next door to Tempe Camera on University, and could only get 2 / 5 bars with Cingular. So I ported number over to T-Mobile and get 5 / 5 bars 95% of the time now.

The best coverage I've ever seen. Shows 5 bars indoors, outdoors, while driving around. Never dropped a call for 2 years.

I get 0 or 1 bar. The entire central campus is almost unuseable for Sprint customers. This also held true with my previous phone (a Samsung), and for a friend's Sprint phone (type unknown). I am always on roaming, even while outdoors, when I'm anywhere near Life Sciences E or the Central Plant, and even then sometimes I cannot complete a call without a walk of 50-80 yards from my building. I am ready to drop Sprint.

T Mobile has not acted like a JD Power winner. Their reception is non existent at the Bashas Shopping Center. I must admit that I fell for a proposal from their retail store to buy a new phone (Samsung t509). Same results. Then they refused to take the second phone back and cancel my two year exension. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in the Washington area where they are headquarted. This has been a nighmare and I would strongly suggest that you stay away from T Mobile

S Dorsey Ln. Btw. Baseline / I-60, Tempe, AZ 85282 |

I live in Tempe on S Dorsey just off of Baseline by Arredondo Elementary and the park. I can't even use my cell phone at home because it drops every single call and I'd say maybe 20% of the time it's "searching for signal". I can't receive calls many times either and when I do, I can't hear the person and / or it drops. We have no landline here and I can't even call Sprint for help because when I have, I wait on hold, then the call drops. I am really sick of the service and there's no point in having the phone when I can't even use it at home. This is unacceptable for my location in the middle of the city like this. Very unhappy. Stupid 2 year contract...

Every single stinking game with the SUNS vs. LA me and my buddy both who have Verizon couldn't get a signal at either Native New Yorker on DOrsey and Broadway nor at McDuffys on 5th and Ash, near Mill. Yup its the network (crappy) allright. Not to mention that in Coconut Grove in Miami Florida, I couldn't get a signal at my Bro's pad. I stayed there for a little over a week and it is in the middle to south of Miami! Forget about your (crappy) network.

3 years with Verizon in Phoenix area, and only a handful of dropped calls. Remember... the systems that now go by the name of Verizon, and Alltel have the best coverage because they have been in place since 1985. The other carriers started service in 1994 or afterwards and they will probably never have the same level of coverage since the other 2 networks had a 10 year head-start on placing antennas all over town.

At work in Tempe, I get little to no service for some reason. Recently relocated from Texas and have had no problems in Maricoa County, but if you get far from any Interstate Hwy. then the service is virtually non-existant. Need new service to work east of Mesa.

Read in an mostly unbiased magazine (everything is a little biased) about the coverage in the Phoenix area. It went like this... 1. Verizon 2. Alltell 3. T Mobil 4. Sprint / Nextel 5. Cingular. I had Cingular before and now I know why their coverage is so horrible. Haven't had any problems with Verizon thus far except for if you go east of the 101 (north / south) which is indian reservation. Even then you can still make / receive phone calls on an extended network. Compare coverage maps side by side, it's no comparison! I can vouch for that. As for coverage in Tempe, there is always coverage. Buy Verizon already.
