I've been with AT&T for years and had no problem with reception until I moved East on Tanque Verde. Now I have zero reception in or out of my home. In the last three to four months I now loose reception on Kolb, Valencia and Wilmont. I have tried to get AT&T to fix or at least give me a reason and all they tell me is that they are working on some of their towers and it could be a while before it is completed. I find this hard to swallow... . I am now checking for a new carrier... .

In the 3 years I lived in this location, I never managed to complete a call inside my house. I had to stand outside to talk on the phone - and even then I'd drop calls regularly. Awful, awful reception and it got worse when I "upgraded" to the iphone 3g from my dumb phone in 2009.

I visit family regularly in this area. For the past four years AT&T reception in the neighborhood has been nonexistent, and the family in town switched from AT&T to Verizon to get 3 bars of reception. I got a Verizon pay phone for the same reason. I visited again after Christmas 2010 and discovered a huge difference. Now I'm getting 3 to 5 bars consistently on AT&T -- 1 bar better than the Verizon coverage -- with the same phones. I suspect either AT&T lit up a new tower in the area or reoriented an existing one. I am now very happy with the AT&T service in this area. PS - I also compared AT&T and Verizon coverage along my trip, specifically from Las Vegas to Tucson. I discovered that the coverage areas and signal strengths are almost identical everywhere I checked, with the exception of south Tucson / Vail, and this has now apparently been addressed by AT&T.

located one block west of campbell, one block north of glenn. within apartment I get either SOS or the rare 1 bar. walking out into the middle of the street I get 1 bar at best. If I'm willing to drive to a "hotspot" it can improve all the way up to 5, sure. That's stupid. Totally defeats the point of having a mobile phone. My ancient Nokia never had these problems ever. Based on what I've read and how they've rated, it's the network not the users who is the problem, and I believe that constitutes a violation of the service contract. Time to see what my options are. Folks seem to like T-Mobile (in this area). Thank you for providing this resource to us. User feedback beats crappy corporate marketing any day of the week.

No phone reception 90% of the time in or out of the house. Sometimes 1 bar just long enough to make call or receive call, then drop it. Had flawless coverage in Colorado. Very disappointed. I can only make calls using my Vonage app. on my cable wireless at home. Strangely, I usually seem to have adequate data service, though slower than I am used to. Definitely in a black hole out here.

I've had AT&T since 2007, and it has been poor service. I drop a call more days than not, and have difficulty hearing the other person, or vice-versa, which is just as bad or worse when they mistake what they thought they heard on a business call. I live by the U of A, and each time school starts up, service gets terrible for a month or two. If I can get a bar at all, my calls often get dropped. Recently, my phone dropped a call at least 5 times during the same conversation. I gave up and found a land line. Web browsing has been so slow, that I don't do it very often. I use to have Sprint (before my company went with AT&T), and lost only two calls in two years, while driving between two large foothills. Used the web browser all the time on that phone, and tethered to my laptop. I'm throwing in the towell on AT&T.

I have had Sprint and AT&T in Tucson. In comparing these, I have to say Sprint was the better carrier, but I had to watch my bill with them, and not assume that everything was right. However, I rarely had connectivity issues. AT&T: I ONLY have AT&T because I haven't jailbroken my iPhone, and am impatiently waiting for the contract to expire, or for Apple to license another provider. I used to live at Kolb and Sahuarta, and while they CLAIMED that I could get good coverage there, it was so intermittent that there is no way I could have survived without a landline. Ex: I would get calls, and it would go directly into voicemail, and I wouldn't even recieve notification of the call until I drove into an area with better reception. Kind of negates the point of having a phone. Now that I live in town, I have to periodically update my network settings, as I get kicked out of service for some reason. Also, in general, poor building penetration. Finally, the customer service people suck up to the point where it's almost embarassing to hear them grovel. Don't kiss my butt, give me better service! Come on, end of contract!

Inside my house, most of the time my iPhone will say "No Service" and if I can get one bar to receive a call, if I stay inside it will drop within a minute or two. I frequently have to go outside in order to talk on the phone. If it does drop a call, it takes a few minutes once I'm outside for the connection with a tower to reset. I've complained at least 7 or 8 times to AT&T but to no avail. They say towers are coming near me but I can't wait until my contract is up.

Terrible service, absolutely terrible. Have never lived anywhere in the US where coverage is so poor and then spotty at best. I'll leave my house, drive a mile and a half south and then get all kinds of alerts for emails, texts and most importantly voicemails. AT&T needs to step up to the plate and provide the quality of coverage / service I pay for (dearly) every month. My backyard backs up to a wash (my property). Come build a tower there. All the health warnings are nonsense. Just make sure it looks like a century plant or a suguaro!

I don't know if I'm just using my phone in the 'wrong' (or right) places, but so far I get at least 4 bars, even in the car. I switched from Sprint, and the experience is night and day. I was an AT&T customer for 3 yrs and then through the duration of Cingular. Now that it is AT&T again I'm dumping this service for lack of service!! I would have a drop call now and again with Cingluar but NEVER lost service in Tucson. Now, since the end of August, I have have periods of time up to 19.6 hours of no service what so ever, and this was even driving around the city. I used to have service in my home and now I do not at all. The service on UA campus sucks as well. I recommended a person to Cingular(AT&T) because I had service on campus and of late neither one of us do. I know 3 other people that are experiencing the same lack of service. When you call AT&T they say it's your phone. How can it be your phone when others are experiencing this as well????? Oh yeah, I've been to ND, MN, DC, TX, GA and Italy since August and my phone picked up service in all areas--even on the island of Capri, so you can't tell me it's my phone... ... ... To bad too, I racked up some hefty international bills over the past few years so I'm taking my money and loyalty elsewhere. I'm tired of seeing other people walking and driving around and being able to use their cell phone!!

Told that service would be better with GSM. 2007 went to Cingular / AT&T and they downloaded new files to the phone. In the two years with current phone we have seen only a deteriation of the service to the point where we have to turn of the phone to prevent the phone from looking for network. Is GSM really the future of wireless or should we change to a carrier that is using TDMA or CDMA?

AT&T should recheck this area. Many customers near this area are planning to leave for the same reason I will (Most I work with). We have been told this area will improve year after year and the last upgrade was around 2005 when Cingular to over. Only the name changed, but no service improvement. Very questional service in the Walmart and Lowe's nearby, but works great at the same type stores around town so it is not the building cutting out the signals.

All over Tucson is a bad area for The New AT&T aka "Cingular" wireless service. They know it, but seem not to care. The last time any upgrades to towers were made was a few years ago. When asking any customer service person they will tell you that they are putting up towers all over (but not in Arizona of course). If you ask them if they plan on upgrading there system here in Tucson they'll say of course hopefully by the end of the year. There now has been too many years and I'm still waiting. This service works great in my house but when I leave it the signal goes up and down. I don't drop calls because I can not make any. If you read Cingular News Press you'll read how much money is being spent elsewhere, but not here.

Wow! I can't believe all the bad mouthing about Cingular. I have used Cingular for over two years without a problem. However, there are definitately a few dead spots (like Wal-Mart and Home Depot) where reception drops from 5 to 1 bar (sometimes zero). My wife has the exact same phone and she doesn't experience any dead areas at all. Even when we are standing side-by-side at the same location, her reception will be perfect where I cant make a call. Sounds like a phone problem to me and nothing to do with Cingular. In my home I always have five bars and I live in a steel frame house. Personally, I've used four different carriers over the years. Cingular is the only carrier out of the four where I have never had a dropped call. I like Cingular and love the rollover minutes.

At this intersection I may get between 2 through 3 bars but when I get home two blocks from this intersection the bars down to 1 or no service. The same happens inside the Walmart or Lowes near that intersections. There are no towers nearby and the closes one is near the airport which is about 6 miles away. The airport has 3 Cingular towers around it. About a mile and a half away there is a Cingular store (with great reception inside only) then drops once you leave. I have repeatly spoken to the customer service about the poor reception about this and they tell me that the area gets moderate coverage and there are no plans to put a tower or repeater nearby anytime soon. If you work or live in this area and have the same issues please voice your concerns. I have switched many phones so I know it is the cell sevice that is the problem.

This was also a problem when we lived on the west side of town at Speedway / Silverbell. We called Cingular to see what they could do to help, but received no help. Now, we either have to pay to get out of the service plan, get a landline or upgrade to phones that may or may not work. Strange thing is that my sister (who is often at our house) has T-Mobile and never has dropped calls or poor reception.

We get 0 to 1 in the house. You have to go outside to get enough bars to send a text. And, you gotta get in the car and drive out to Valencia to get enough bars to make a call. Most of my daughter's friends can come to our house and use their Alltell and Cricket phones. This is very inconvenient for us. We were told in February that Cingular would be installing up to 100 towers in Tucson area by year end. From reading the posts on here about Cingular, I am thinking they lied. As soon as contract is up, I am dropping them. Tin cans with string work better than Cingular. As for their advertising, instead fo touting best results for not dropping calls, it should be "you can't drop a call that you never received." Maybe I should go in to advertising!?

Can't use my phone inside my house. 20 feet from house service is only in the OK category. I fired Alltel in favor of Cingular and in two months I'll do what most of my friend have done - switch to Verizon. Cingular and GSM is great in major metropolitan areas but!!

We get very poor reception inside our house and have to go out in the backyard to make calls. Long distance calls are the worst - they drop off after only a few minutes. It's a pity, since we are paying for national service but can't use it. Cingular customer service justs shrugs us off, saying there is very diverse coverage in our neighborhood.

Cingular (AKA ATT) has the worst reception in the UA area I have ever experienced. Calls are consistantly dropped on Campbell between Grant and I-10 on both mine and my wifes (Brand new phones). Cingular lost my buisness to Verizon when three calls to their "TECH" line resulted in substandard explinations for such poor reception. I honestly had better reception on my analog phone in the early 90's! Cingular really needs to get their act together.

No service along Sunrise west of Craycroft until Swan. Dropped calls consistently along Orange Grove around Orange Grove Middle School and east of 1st Ave. Barely any coverage on 1st Ave from Orange Grove south to River Road. Broadway Blvd! HORRIBLE coverage! Cingular needs to get busy and put up repeaters and towers around town NOW! Maybe a class action suit would get Cingular's attention!?

I have had Cingular since AT&T sold out to them. I have never been more disappointed since that day. When I first heard that Cingular and AT&T were merging, I was kind of excited, roll-over. However, after close to two years of dropped calls, horrible service and them telling me I need to buy a new phone to get roll-over, I am through. One would think that since they acquired AT&T, that their coverage would be untouchable, and it should. For it to get worse, unacceptable. I do not want to here that their equipment is not compatable, reprogram it. My contract with them just in this month(September 2006), I am deciding between Verizon and T-Mobile. I am surpised that Cingular is still in Business. The phone I used was great. I will never go back to Cingular.

Occasional call to someone on my contact list and end up connected to someone else's conversation (NOT the person on my contact list that is listed on my phone screen) No service in most of my house and a lot of areas of Tucson. I complained a lot and eventually they let me out of my contract so I switched to Verizon. So far so good. Much better service.

Cingular sucks. I'm a former AT&T customer. Two months after dropping $400 on my phone those jerk weeds told me I would have to buy a new one to be on the "Cingular" network. I told them to bite me. Half the time I have no service in my house. I may set up a fire pit in my backyard and start sending smoke signals which is light years better than no signal.

This area is growing with new homes and businesses. It would be nice to see a new tower to support the area. But from what I read below it will not happen soon. Time to look at a new carrier.

I switched over to Cingular from AT&T last year in June 2005. I was told from the sales office near my area the a new tower was going to be installed nearby the end of the summer to improved the signal strength (which I am getting between 1 to sometimes 3 bars). The summer ended and no tower. I was then told the end of the year. But nothing. I stop by the office to inquiry and this time I was told by this July but another sales person said she had heard by the end of the year. Good thing my contract is ending at the end of June. One good this about Cingular it works great between Tucson and Yuma and Tucson and El Paso which I visit. It also works great in Mexico and automatically switches to their carriers. To bad it does not in my area.

Cingular has no service, just a name. We had AT&T wireless, which had problems, but nothing like now. Dropped calls, network failure,no signal or reception, sometimes for hours. Customer service is always polite but never any help. They all follow the same line, nothing is wrong in your area, it must be your phone, a tower is out. I have four Samsung x426 and one Nokia 6340i phones, all have the same problems. I have a friend who is located in the Swan and FT. Lowell area who upgraded to Motorola RAZR phones and is still having the same problems. Cingular may be ok in some areas, but definately not here. Even a locale Cingular store employee said that they had to install Qwest landlline where they live, to have any reliable phone service.

No service at my home and when I do get it in the car, most of my calls are dropped. Customer service told me, "the phone has to find a new tower when you move around and can sometimes drop calls" Excuse me, aren't these called "mobile phones" so that you CAN move around? I will be breaking my contract as soon as I research other carriers... . not if, but when.

My expereience with Cingular in Tucson hasn't been all that bad, pretty consistent fair to good coverage all over Tucson, with some noteable exceptions: weak reception (sometimes) on east Broadway, Old Spanish Trail near Cmno Loma Alto, River near Flowing wells park. Cingular service is not a good wireless provider even though they claim they have a "All Over Network" in thier marketing. They say they merged but still require to buy new Cingular phones if you choose to migrate over, which is crap. You can't even buy ATT wireless phones or parts at the local The New Cingular Store anymore. They have bad customer service and sell crap phones like the Motorola V220. Take my advice and go the Verizon route. Better phones without the confusing merger crap to deal with.
