our cell phone is being used for business for the last 7 years back in 2004 when we got the phone it was not perfect but acceptable for the last two years we have nothing but problems dropped calls all over town it got so bad we are looking to change service company when the present contract will expire. based on the towers looks like AT&T should have the best coverage. Remember the first TV commercial when the guy had a Verizon phone asking (can you hear me? then he steps forward and ask again how about now? steps forward again OK how about now? that should have raised a red flag right there. Verizon is a big fraud

Poor reception. Dropped calls and scratchy sounds. I average 0 to 1 or 2 bars from my home. I noticed even on top of A Mountain I only get 4 bars out of 5 and Internet test was slow. Very dissatisfied after 11 months and will probably terminate contract early. I heard that AT&T gives better reception on the west side of Tucson but I am done with smartphones, small screens, slow Internet, additional charges to tether with miniscule GB restrictions. I'm calling BS and going back to Net 10 where I was happier.

I haven't had any problems with dropped calls in over 2 years. Before that it was only one or two per year at the most. A Service Rep told me many years ago, when I got my first cell phone, to always use the area code when making calls (even locally), and make sure people use your area code when calling you. It has to do with the way long distance calls are routed, compared to local calls. Everyone I have told this to has gotten better service than they did without using the area code for all calls. I even had a person email me and say they couldn't get me on my cell phone. I told him to try it with the area code, and sure enough the call came through. Hope this helps! It has proven to work for me and the friends I have told about this. Of course, if you have a plan that charges you for long distance, then it is going to be expensive because each call is logged as long distance.

I switched have had Verizon ever since they merged with Alltel. I can't remember having any dropped calls any where in the city. Maybe I don't travel around much. I did drive to Washington state (using I-10) a couple of years ago and only lost the signal a couple of times. No signal at my daughters house in Washington, but they lived in a dead spot that didn't receive signals no matter what service you had. I think Verizon is better than anything I've heard of or used.

Since mid 2010 call reception has dropped dramatically. Very often, incoming calls are missed completely; people say they have called repeatedly and we do not answer; there is absolutely no indication of incoming calls. Outgoing 0 bars, or 1 bar at most 2 bars IF held in a few spots around the house. It has become a real pain.

I've been with Verizon a long time and reception used to be decent. As of a few months ago now, reception got very poor such that neighbors began asking eachother if folks were having problems. Verizon claimed it was doing some tower work but the situation has gotten so bad we sometimes save making calls until we gt into town. Constant dropped calls, very bad reception and quality. My wife has a New phone and it is no better. Verizon did SOMETHING out here that has really screwed service up. They say they didn't but the change from one week to the next was completely noticable, by many poeple. I am now looking at alternatives.

I've been with Verizon for about 5 years now, and despite my disappointment with their slowness to adopt newer, cutting edge phones, their reception is outstanding all around town. I seldom have problems placing a call, and calls almost never drop. I've enjoyed a similar experience in nearly every U.S. city to which I've travelled. I've had T-mobile, AT&T(just when they switched to GSM), and Sprint here in Tucson, and they were all poor in comparison. My friends who currently have AT&T (for their i-Phones) and Sprint frequently complain about poor service. I've really wanted to get an i-Phone, but just can't bear to leave Verizon's service. The i-Phone technology is so cool, but is pretty worthless in the end if you can't make a call or connect to the Net.

Verizon works great for us. I usually get 5 or 6 bars out of 7, even downstairs. I can't remember the last time I got dropped, and I'm all over town. Sometimes at work (metal framed building, deep inside the bowels thereof) I only get 2 or 3 bars (out of 7), but can still make and recieve calls! We got Verizon when we got here, and renewed after the first two-year ended. Then we fell for a come-on and switched to Sprint, and couldn't get more than 1 bar (out of 5 on a different phone) unless we went upstairs (then we sometimes got two bars). Needless to say, as soon as we could, we switched back! Never again!

Cingular never offered to switch me to their GSM network, which, perhaps would have worked better. Their customer service was poor to non-existant.

Every service has dead spots as does Verizon, but it happens so infrequently that I am rarely affected. I use phone service as well as broadband service for my laptop. As a UA student, it is true that Verizon has a dead spot on campus. They are not perfect, but in my opinion, You can't beat Verizon in Tucson. Also, you should research phones before buying them. As a Verizon user, my buddy is sorry he didn't. I make calls where he can't all the time. It's a full package, one bad piece will prevent the call. Good phones aren't free or cheap, but expensive ones aren't full proof either. Do your due diligence!
