With Verizon usually 4 to 5 bars. Never had a dropped call here in SaddleBrooke. Used to have Cingular Motorola TDMA phone which worked OK from about Dec. 2003 until July 2005. Then the Cingular TDMA Network service deterioted badly and I switched to Verizon. No problems since! Cingular never offered to switch me to their GSM network, which, perhaps would have worked better. Their customer service was poor to non-existant.

Have had Cingular for years - it only gets worse - poor reception, dropped calls regularly on a daily basis - I will be switching services very soon. False advertising - fewest dropped calls - right... .

I know that you can get bad reception inside buildings, homes and blocked by mountans and hills but in this area there are hills about 7 miles away and I get crappy reception. The Cingular store which is nearby has great reception inside the store so I figured this area was excellent for service. Good thing I have 30 days to return this phone.

Midvale Park Rd. / Valencia Rd. intersection, Tucson, AZ 85746 Fri Jan 12, 2007

At this intersection I may get between 2 through 3 bars but when I get home two blocks from this intersection the bars down to 1 or no service. The same happens inside the Walmart or Lowes near that intersections. There are no towers nearby and the closes one is near the airport which is about 6 miles away. The airport has 3 Cingular towers around it. About a mile and a half away there is a Cingular store (with great reception inside only) then drops once you leave. I have repeatly spoken to the customer service about the poor reception about this and they tell me that the area gets moderate coverage and there are no plans to put a tower or repeater nearby anytime soon. If you work or live in this area and have the same issues please voice your concerns. I have switched many phones so I know it is the cell sevice that is the problem.

We kept Cingular when we moved from Washington state because we heard that they had better reception down in Tucson. NOT TRUE! Drops calls all over Tucson area and is not consistent on where it drops the calls. Sometimes I can call in an area but the next time... parked in the same parking lot... NO LUCK! Well we are finally fed up and despite our very low phone bill, I will be ecstatic to switch {and tell them so too... and anyone else who will listen!} The person who said that they sucked a certain non favorable body part was entirely in his right mind.

We've experienced lots of dropped calls with Cingular. We recently moved to the Broadway / Pantano area and do not get good reception in or around our house. This was also a problem when we lived on the west side of town at Speedway / Silverbell. We called Cingular to see what they could do to help, but received no help. Now, we either have to pay to get out of the service plan, get a landline or upgrade to phones that may or may not work. Strange thing is that my sister (who is often at our house) has T-Mobile and never has dropped calls or poor reception.

I have never had a problem with T-Mobile unless I go into a Bookmans or Wal Mart... then the bars go down to 1 or 2, sometimes no reception at all.

We get 0 to 1 in the house. You have to go outside to get enough bars to send a text. And, you gotta get in the car and drive out to Valencia to get enough bars to make a call. Most of my daughter's friends can come to our house and use their Alltell and Cricket phones. This is very inconvenient for us. We were told in February that Cingular would be installing up to 100 towers in Tucson area by year end. From reading the posts on here about Cingular, I am thinking they lied. As soon as contract is up, I am dropping them. Tin cans with string work better than Cingular. As for their advertising, instead fo touting best results for not dropping calls, it should be "you can't drop a call that you never received." Maybe I should go in to advertising!?

Can't use my phone inside my house. 20 feet from house service is only in the OK category. I fired Alltel in favor of Cingular and in two months I'll do what most of my friend have done - switch to Verizon. Cingular and GSM is great in major metropolitan areas but!!

I get very poor reception at home with frequent dropped calls. Sometimes the call will go through, then drop when I turn my head - it's that flaky. I've spoken to Cingular about this, but they have not been able to do anything and freely acknowledge that they don't have a tower serving this area. More bars my ass. FYI, My bill says Cingular, but I'm on an ATT plan with an ATT sim card, so that may play a role in this, but personally I wouldn't trust Cingular any further than I could throw them.
