Yuma finally has 3G coverage people! Like the other people said, for years Sprint had been giving me the run around. I was sooo close to jumping over to Verizon. With the Speed Test App I average about 900kps to 1mb download and about 400 kbs upload. All my Apps now are fully functional on thier own with out WiFi assistance! Its about damn time! Although some area's of Yuma vary greatly in speed connectivity. Biggest fluctuations are in the Counties south of Sommerton. But San Luis seems to be rocking it pretty fast too. The best reception areas are on top of the Mesa of course. Once you go down the hill then thats when speed levels drop down, not to bad though. I dont know where else they may have cell phone towers other than Telegraph Pass but I would imagine that they must have some repeaters around town to be able to hit San Luis.

When I was with Sprint, the reception was bad, usually 2 bars or under. The strange thing is that inside some buildings, you get a much stronger signal than if you stepped outside. At home, when the wind was blowing, the strength would fluctuate from 0-3 bars, dropping many calls. Sprint claimed that they were upgrading their system to 3G (and some even claimed 4G), but all I ever saw was 1X (and that was after 2.5 years of the "we're upgrading" claims).

Outstanding reception, no matter where I go in town. Always have several bars in 3G. Was with Sprint, but they seem to refuse to upgrade their equipment (though the claim they are - for 2.5 years now). Plus, with the Mobile Hotspot with the Pre, I pretty much have internet access anywhere I go in town.

On my G1 with T-mo I get about 3 bars at home, and 4 when I'm in town, in over a year with them I've had about 2-3 dropped calls. Their data service is still on edge (2.5G), but is faster than with AT&T and Sprint's 3G (Tested vs a coworker's Evo)

Live and work downtown. Just cancelled my Verizon contract to get switch to AT&T so I could get the iphone. LOVE the iphone. Not so much AT&T. I get anywhere from 1 bar to No Service in my office on the corner of 2nd St.and Madison Ave. If I ever do get a call, chances are it's gonna get dropped. I don't think I EVER lost a call with verizon. I got service where no one else could. Such a shame. If it wasn't for the iPhone, I'd go back to Verizon in a heartbeat.

Alltel has good coverage in the Yuma and San Luis area, even further into San Luis, Mexico. There is a lot of roaming in parts of Calfornia though.
