Here at Haas I have always gotten just awful reception - never 3G services. Never, ever. Oftentimes 1 bar. Today I have full 5 bars and 3G all day. Did they open a new tower or something? Totally great to have coverage here finally!

I can take my blackberry storm to friggin tilden park, and STILL GET A CALL. I hate the idea of sounding like a Verizon ad but IT'S TRUE.

I've never really had a problem with reception, ever, only when I'm (sort of) underground in the women's locker room in the gym or in the lower level computer lab in the dorms, but that is to be expected with any carrier. Verizon is pretty good. I don't know why I'm looking for another carrier, maybe it's the price, but Verizon is worth it.

I think about a year ago all of a sudden the reception in my house raised from no reception to full reception. Very happy now.

Just switched from Verizon to AT&T do to poor reception last month and needless to say it has bars every where I go to around here in the downtown berkeley area. Up and down university, telgraph even side streets in parts of North Berkeley by the BART it works at. Way to go AT&T.

I have always have Good to Great reception just about eveyware in the Bay Area. I was'nt even aware bad reception or droped calls were a problem until I started looking into getting a new phone. The only time I have issues is when the cell phone battery gets really low. Other than that it has benn very reliable. I only wish the calling plans were as competative as some Cingular or verizine. Good: Reception, reliability, and sound quality. Bad: Cost, Freebee ring tones and wall paper. So if you want all the bells and wistles for free or a dirt cheap calling plan Nextel / Sprint is not a good choice. If you just need a phone to make phone calls than it won't let you down (as long as you remember to keep your battery charged).

Great coverage! Better than Sprint in the Bay. When it has no bars it still works perfectly. Some drop spots but works well in those places it works everywhere time to switch to Metro if you live in the bay.

I love my Metro! I get good reception everywhere in Berkeley. I've dropped my phone like a dozen times. I barely ever recharge the battery, and I have unlimited minutes. Metro is a land line mabye thats why.

Signal strength and sound quality excellent throughout the southern to central Berkeley area, haven't tested it elsewhere yet. Callers report that my signal quality is excellent also. Subjectively, the sound quality seems at least as good as what I would get on good quality landline phones. My two previous phones, Sony Ericsson T68i and T226, were much poorer in RF performance and audio quality on the same, ATT / Cingular, GSM network.
