I have found recption here in east Contra Costa county pretty good. (a few weak spots) Verizon is also pretty good, I don't know about the others. I would suggest, that if you have reception problems with any carrier, you might want to look at a web site called cell tower info. com. It will give you some insight into why you might be having problems especially the section on zoning regulations for cell towers

With the RAZR, I usually get zero to 2 bars. This depends on exactly where I stand in my house. My wife has a LG VX6000 and she usually gets 1 to 2 bars. That's okay, but not great at all.

I used to get excellent coverage with Nextel, but since switching to T-Mobile I get absolutely zero coverage at my home

Cingular recently sent me a new SIM chip to "Improve" the quality of my service. Since installing the chip, my reception is horrible. Without moving the phone, I go from no reception at all to 4 bars. Several times during the day, I will get the "No Servie" message on my phone. Calls are constantly dropped. I have spoken with customer service numerous times but they can't seem to solve the problem. I was told (by customer service) that this was due to them removing several AT&T wireless towers and I was probably affected because I was an old AT&T customer. Only problem with that is I have never been an AT&T customer. Avoid Cingular.

I have the Verizon Wireless service, but the summit of Kirker Pass probably drops calls for most if not all carriers, from what I've heard from folks with other services. There's just too much interference up there - no surprise when you consider how many transmitters and stuff are on that peak.

Signal strength in our part of Brentwood was no better than average until spring of 2003. Verizon Wireless must have added a new cell site at that time because the signal dramatically improved after that and has been strong since. We were using a Kyocera phone then, have an LG VX6000 now, and no problems at all.
