I had another phone that worked pretty good but then I upgraded to a Samsung Flight. This phone and AT&T's customer service are terrible. The device will randomly lose reception and not search for a signal until I restart it. When I restart the phone it will have four bars and work great. So far AT&T has not been helpful and suggests I just buy a new phone and hope service is better with that device. I'll try T-Mobile instead.

At&T gets reception around Lake Morena but Verizon does not. At the local Elementary school Verizon has one or two bars and At&T doesn't. I was told because we are surrounded by Cleveland National Forest there is a lot of red tape to get cell towers in this area. I have a cell but use my landline at home :(

Verizon may have just installed a new tower at the bottom of the grade near the Buckman Springs Rest Stop as of July 01, 2007. We were able to use our Verizon phones from just north of Lake Moreno on Buckman Springs all the way to Interstate 8. Prior to this weekend, I believe Cingular was the only one to have coverage on this stretch of Buckman Springs, and it was spotty at best.

Verizon has a tower up here in the mountains and in the above listed area it provides good service. They are the primary source of digital cell phone reception in this area. Sprint also comes in, but not as well and in less places. You can lock on both signals while traveling through this area. No other carriers will build up here.
