Considering I live on top of a hill with commanding views of the city, I am shocked by the poor reception on the VZW network. Oddly it's data that suffers the worst up here. It's not uncommon for me to have 4-5 bars, but only 1x and no 3G. What gives? What truly hurts is that I can see a Nextel site 500ft from my window.

AT&T is worthless since most calls are dropped no matter where you are. Phone often does not ring when call coming in. Bars have no relation to power of signal. I can see a few bars and get nothing. I regret having to give up my iPhone in order to have a cell phone that can actually handle phone calls.

Hmmm sucky Ghetto metro in the bay area.. I guess you get what you pay for. Hmmm I have noticed not a lot of negative postings for Sprint. Mostly AT&T which claims to have more bars in more places. Starting to believe thats not true. I think I shall go for Sprint since less complaints. I will try the Samsung Instinct.

Since moving to this section of San Francisco about a year ago, I have experienced nothing but very poor reception with Cingular, especially in my apt. Even if I am right next to a window, the reception is very poor. Often I must exit my apt building to get any reception. I will definitely switch carriers once my contract is up.

I have no problems with Sprint all around the city. Well the only problem I have is on Twin Peaks which pretty sure every carrier has problems on. But never had dropped calls when going around the city.

Very unreliable and poor quality reception throughout my townhouse. I must stand near the window of my kitchen or upstairs bedroom to get somewhat reliable reception and even there the calls often become disconnected. I called Cingular and the representitrive said that my residence is "between stations". He could not say if the situation would ever be improved. I am looking for a provider with a better quality product.

TDMA coverage by ATT was better for me in this area. I had good signal anywhere in my condo. GSM phones drop signal in one bedroom of my condo. I have many more drop spots on GSM then
TDMA. I have been on GSM for over a year and I keep seeing the ATT ads touting their signal strength. I hope that it is better here soon other
wise I will scream when asked "How many bars do you have" in which I will reply, the same amount as the finger I am holding up right now.

Daly City is filled with dead zones, especially with GSM phones. I switched to Verizon with hopes to actually eliminate my chances of running into dead zones, and CDMA coverage in the U.S. is far superior than GSM for now. But Daly City seems to be a cell phone dead zone overall.

On Highway 280 South, heading towards the junction in San Bruno to get to 101 South, you almost ALWAYS drop calls. Whether it be GSM, CDMA or TDMA. Daly City area is a terrible digital area.
