Coverage use to be spotty with edge wireless. Improvements in the past couple of years has it been exponential.

0-1 bars through Myrtle Town College of the Redwoods also has 0 bars unless in the parking lot. Broadway gets 3-4 bars

I always get good reception anywhere in Eureka, Arcata, up Fickle Hill, up to McK, the airport, I go partway out 299, still clear, no interference, no fade out, no echo, it's always the other guy's phone doing it. Even up in headwaters one day it worked fine. Have not checked Fortuna but it always works good in Fernbridge. Now the phone itself- that's another story, not happy with it at all. But i've had US Cellular for some years and reception is always better than anyone else in the group.

EVDO giving data speeds of 500kbs / 100kbs using Sprint radio.

Reception is getting better with the new towers, but it was horrible before with dropped calls. It still is not great.

Virgin mobile reception in Cutten is poor, calls drop out frequently and web access usually impossible. Other parts of town (Old Town, Myrtletown, Target area) are very good. College of the Redwoods usually has 1-2 bars.

Calls only make it through if standing in the middle of an open area, the wind is blowing in the right direction and antenna is fully extended.

I have been with US Cellular for over 7 years and have had nothing but fantastic service. I have friends with other carriers and they are always borrowing my phone when their's doesn't work. Highly recommend it!

Edge Wireless: need to stand in a particular location in my home (near a window in the bedroom or kitchen) to get any reception. Excellent reception near HSU. Fair reception other parts of Eureka. Few dropped calls, except at home.

I spent several hours on the phone with Verizon Wireless, and they claim my phone should work. However, when I try to place a call, it asks for a credit card number before it will connect me.

US Cellular seems to be the service of choice for the majority of my pilot friends who fly around here. I personally just switched from Edge Wireless to US Cellular and have noticed improved reception in most locations. Cal North does however cover a few specific areas (like Trinity Center) that no one else does. Check them out if particular locations are critical to you.

U.S.Cellular is the best for all f Humboldt and Mendocino county.
