Good reception, has gotten better over past year, since 2006. Better coverage indoors. I work in Firebaugh and the reception is quite good there as well considering that it is a rural area.
I have been an AT&T customer since 2002. At that time, it was TDMA which I believe it was way better than the GSM currently run by Cingular. Since then, I have had more dropped calls and my conversation seem to break up a lot more. The only reason why I stay with AT&T is the mobile to mobile and rollover minutes which really help a lot on my minutes usage. But, overall the reception is not as good as before. I tried T-Mobile for about two days, but it there is no service in the foothills. I have heard nothing but good things about Verizon when it comes to call quality, but you get the least amount of minutes for the money.
I can never get through a whole phone call where I can hear all the words the person I am talking to says. It cuts out a lot. I am always saying "What? Can you repeat that?"
Since I had to upgrade my SIM card to the new 64K Smartchip, my reception has been worse. No signal in outlying areas, where it used to be fine. Often now calls have a lot of static as well.
I am having a horrible experience with my Cingular service. I have not successfully made 1 phone call that has not cut out while talking. I am opting to return this phone with the 30 day return policy
When calling someone or receiving a call there would be constant static sometimes. Also lots of fast busy signals because I couldn't get through to call anyone (and there was plenty signal strength). I've always had a terrible experience with AT&T WS and then Cingular once they bought out AT&T WS. Verizon has excellent service.
Since the merge to Cingular I've had more dropped calls than I've never had since I've been with AT&T beginning 1996. Most recently, I'm now experiencing my calls going straight to voicemail for no apparent reason. I called 611 and they said it is a known issue and they are working to fix the problem. My reception has also worsened, half of the time the calls get broken up to where I can only hear like every 5th word when using my phone. It sucks!
