No reception at home, even though the ATT coverage map indicates that I am in the middle of a full coverage area.

I live in this area. I have had great service with Cingular (now AT&T. Almost no dropped or missed calls. Good reception. I had Verizon two years ago and that phone seemed to work well too. Both phones also worked well at UCSB, but I've heard that there are occasional dropped calls there just because sometimes the systems get overloaded.

Drastic reduction in quality recently. Many dropped calls and choppy reception. Service used to be great... something has happened in last month to greatly reduce the quality of service.

Near GVAC. Always 5 bars, sometimes drops to 4 or 3 during a call but very useable. Very strong signal. Signal is always good around Goleta, Isla Vista, and most of Santa Barbara. Ever since they installed towers 2 years ago, it's been great.

Service is great in Isla Vista and around the UCSB campus. No problems in Goleta or downtown Santa Barbara as well. In indoor lecture halls, service sometimes declines to two bars inside Buchannan Hall but in the larger lecture halls (Isla Vista Theater, Campbell Hall, Etc.) the service is great. I also got five bar service in the Francisco Torres Residence Hall and while visiting friends in Anacapa.

I've always gotten very good reception around the UCSB / Isla Vista / Ellwood / Goleta area. My signal fades in a few parts of downtown Santa Barbara and anywhere I've been more than a few hundred yards aways from the 101 in Montecito and Summerland, as well as in some of the larger / heavier buildings at UCSB. Recently, I've been experiencing 'network busy' signals but I think it's a problem with my phone. It's quite old (more than 4 years) and started to power itself off randomly around the same time the busy signals started. Despite the excellent signal reception I've received, I will most likely be leaving Sprint soon due to their unwillingness to extend the same rebates on a new phone to me as they advertise to new customers. (Effectively, it would cost me an exra $50 to get a new phone other than their bottom-of-line model AND keep my phone number. They're offering some models with a $200 rebate on new line installations but the same phones are discounted only $150 as an upgrade to an existing line)

The reception is good here. Even better as I near UCSB. T Mobile lists the area between Ellwood and Gaviota as having great reception. There is NO reception between Refugio and Gaviota State Beaches on Hwy. 101. T Mobile needs to work on this ASAP

Just started happening since the 4th of July. I called T-Mobile and they said that there was poor reception in my area. This hasn't been an issue before in the last 6 months. They claim that maybe more people moved in and the signal weakened. sometimes I get all bars, until I try to call out, which is when I get 0 bars. I still have 6 months left on the service.

Also, there are many more cell sites than this page indicates for the Goleta / Santa Barbara areas, very disapointing. If you have an Android, load the free "Antennas" app from the Market place to see where they are. Also load the "Real Signals" app to see the differances between your Data and Voice signals. For Verizon that's EVDO and 1x CDMA. I returned my DroidX yesterday to stay out of contract and have restarted using my 4 year old MotoQ.

In my building I get severe reception fluctuations and often calls go straight to voice mail. Likely a rare bad handset, but I found a Boost Mobile CDMA map (Same as Verizon) showing a narrow strip of marginal coverage for our street / buildings. (ATK) Curiously, Nextel iDen seems to have good coverage there. It's old but good TDMA technology, I may have to switch to it. (My wife is disabled and must be able to contact me quickly)

Great coverage by Verizon Wireless in all areas inside the house as well as all over the neighborhood. Live around Alameda and Butte near Dos Pueblos HS and reception is excellent. Was not always this way - until the new cell tower was put in on Hollister about 2 years ago, reception inside the house and even in the back yard was spotty, with lots of drops. But now, after the new tower, I couldn't be happier with reception here. By the way, reception is excellent throughout Goleta and SB - the only place is drops off is around Rincon Point on 101 going south. The call gets dropped, I redial, and connection is fine.
