AT&T wouldn't give us femtocell, although they said they would in letter. I was 2 days late. Zero service in the house or near any bldgs, and lousy customer service. We have 3 phones on family plan and am dying to switch to almost any decent non-AT&T provider. It seems like Sprint looks good in irvine?

Trying Verizon with ipad2. Bought 3 for family after 6 hrs in line. Hope I did not make serious error.

February 20, 2011. It seems the quality has deteriorated the last few days. I wonder if it's the rainy / cloudy weather; but signal should not be that sensitive to weather. This is weird.

Finally after 10+ year I get decent coverage with AT&T. Seems to have happened just this week. Most of my family already switched to Verizon because we couldn't even use our cells for calls at home, but I stuck with AT&T. Let's hope this increase service is permanent.

Today, October 2nd, both my wife and I noticed that we suddenly have 3 to 4 bars. Before we had 0 to 1. AT&T must have activated a new tower? Anyone else noticed the increased signal?

I heard bad things about AT&T in Irvine, but I wanted an iphone 4, and people told me that AT&T coverage had improved over the past year. Well, it has been o.k. in my house (off of Yale Loop near Jeffrey and Alton) I get 1 bar inside and sometimes 2 bars on the patio. Some calls are fine, and sometimes I drop calls. My office is at the Spectrum and I get maximum bars inside my office building all the time. It's great. Also, driving around Irvine, Tustin, Costa Mesa, Newport, etc... I rarely have any problems. I've had Sprint and Verizon too. In 2007 I was with Verizon and couldn't get one bar in my house near Culver and Michelson. I think Sprint is the best overall, but they don't have iphone and that's what I really wanted. My advice: get a cheap landline if cell service in your house is bad. Land lines are really cheap now. You can get a plan for about $9 per month.

With Femtocell that I pay for to get a signal at all, it is dreadful. Can't wait for the end of the contract and the commencement of another carrier selling the iPhone.

Neither phones, iPhone or Blackberry had absolutely NO RECEPTION in my house... I have to stick my phone o my window sill in order to make calls. In the end I had to used my PSP's Skype to make calls within my house. Outside of my house the reception is still very spotty. Had AT&T on and off, but this time around its much worse than before. I know phones have a lot to do with it, so I guess this is a testament of how poorly the iphone does in this area... but my Blackberry Curve didn't fare much better either.

Since I moved to this home, my coverage is so terrible. my wife now uses land line to call me at work. My phone drops calls all the time, although it's slightly better in the backyard. Terrible, terrible, and a major disappointment.

I get no reception in this area at all. Terrible. I think its just AT&T. They need to address this issue.

Poor reception in the Stonegate / Woodbury Village areas. My sister who just lives around the corner off Yale / Northwood / Bryan got a letter today from ATT to get a free microcell so that they can remain loyal customers and not swap carriers. I was forced to get a cox landline not only for calls but I couldnt even buzz visitors into the gated community from my iPhone without dropping the calls to my guests at the gate. Funny that I get full bars and great reception at work over near the 5 / Spectrum area. Not sure what criteria ATT is using to pass out the free microcells but if you cant make a call to complain cuz the call drops... .

Evert call drops 2-3 times. AT&T really sucks! I have to keep my land line...

I was a long time Verizon customer that switched carriers in Nov 2009 because I wanted the Iphone. What a mistake! While I absolutely love the iPhone, AT&T service is absolutely horrible. I can't talk at home without having the conversation dropped several times. Service is sporatic throughout my home and no better outdoors. Places where I use to get service with Verizon are nonexsistant with AT&T. Being so frustrated and fed up with substandard cell service, I have decided to return to Verizon. This will be a costly mistake. If I had only known what I know now.

Since moving to Irvine my ATT reception went from poor to non existent. Occasionally in my backyard I can get 1 bar but 99% of the time I see "Call Failed" or "No Radio Path Available", on either my Pantec or Blackberry. Irvine City is partially to blame, as are the residents that sign the many 'no cell tower' petitions.

Barely any reception. Have to stick the phone out the patio just to a crackly phone call you can barely understand. Absolutely horrible coverage indoors. Almost impossible to get signal. Very dissapointed with AT&T. Moved from Florida expecting my Iphone to work in my own apartment, not too much to ask. Strangely, it works mostly anywhere outside.

at Watermarke Condos, reception on the side facing Jamboree was great (5 bars)... now that I am living facing Carlson, in one of the 'inner' units, my reception is none in the kitchen, and a 3 in the patio, or near a window... Needless to say, if I don't feel like talking to someone, I merely walk to the kitchen...

It is incredibly frustrating to continually have little or no reception in our neighborhood.

I just moved in to Turtle Rock and couldn't believe that there is no reception in my house for AT&T at all. I have a home based business and always use my cell phone for my business. Now my customer is having a difficult time when they call me while I'm at home. For sure, I will loose a lot of customers because of the bad cell phone receiption. That force me to search for a new carrier. I have been AT&T customer for almost 10 years. Too Bad. AT&T should do something now. Or else AT&T will loose customers because of the bad receiption.

AT&T just went from the worst campus service, to the best. I don't know what they did but previously (i.e. yesterday) I needed to have my phone in the window for a crummy 2 bars. Today, I can be in the ELEVATOR and have 4 / 5 bars! Amazing!

Crap service from AT&T in all of the Loop in Woodbridge, but absolutely NO SERVICE inside the house. My paretns Verizon gets perfect service!

The reception at the area of San Leon and Harvard is poor at best. I switched from Sprint to STT because I wanted the iPhone. Sprint rocked for coverage - solid and reliable. ATT at this location is poor at best. I used to brag about the solid service and very, very few dropped calls - not any more. I see from this thread that this is common in this area. Considering the dense population, I am shocked that ATT does not improve the coverage.

Great neighborhood! However, the cell reception is so poor that residents often park in the median area of Summit Park just to make or complete their cell phone conversations. This is a potential hazard and I hope nobody gets rear-ended in the process. I've tried Verizon, Nextel, Sprint, and now AT&T (forced to switch due to the iPhone contract). I've experienced dropped calls on all carriers.

Horrific reception. Advice from very large campus housing office is - GET A LAND LINE. Dropped calls - static - fading - no reception! This is near UCI campus and on campus!

The reception is terrible at UCI. I have rarely 5 bars most of the time nothing or 1 bar. I was told when I bought my phone during the summer 2006 that a new tower will be in service in September 2006 but I know now it was a pure lie. I hate lies and will not stay with Cingular / AT&T when my contract is done. Their vendors are incompetent and lie to your face.

In Woodbridge, with 20,000 people, the geniuses at Cingular can't figure out how to stop dropped calls. Actually, the geniuses on the City Council need to hear from all of you poor service people.

I HATE THIS. Cingular was AWSOME in the bay area, since I moved down here it is horrible. I cannot get any reception in my apt. I get a dropped call literaly every time I pick up the phone. I could be driving home and get full bars. then I make a right on san leon from harvad and the call drops. every time. and no reception till I leave san leon back onto harvad and away. this sucks. I called AT&T and said my area should have good reception but they are building more towers in 08. I was thinking of getting varizon but now I hear they suck too. my roommate has T-Mobile and they are as bad as AT&T. guess this is why old people still have land lines. ARRGGHH

In and around Irvine, the reception is fine. However, neither my roommate or I am able to get a signal inside our apartment. I'm wondering if switching to Verizon or another carrier would mean less leaning over the balcony of our porch to make a call.

I consistently have 1-2 bars all the time at home. Its not the phone, its not because its indoors, its the area. Coverage in woodbury PLAN SUCKS. if you plan to live here, get a landline, skype, or verizon. Cingular and T-Mobile both have crappy reception here, probably due to the lack of GSM towers? but if u literally go 200 feet out, or to the market place, you suddenly get reception. dont know why.

Counting the days until my 2 yr Cingular obligation is over. I believed the salesman when he said 'they are just about to put a tower near that intersection' Ha I had no reception here that day or since. My experience with Cingular in general is not that great, droping calls at random, sitting still with full reception, next second call is gone. Also Motorola phone not as user friendly as any of the Nokia phones I've had.

No reception in this area! We were also told that are phones were to old and if we bought new ones we would get better reception and fewer droped calls! Suckers! and we bought it! Cingular the network with the most droped calls! If you can even make the call!

I used to have great signal with Cingular in this location. But, it turned to no reception right after my SIM card was "upgraded" by Cingular about 3 months ago. I tried different phone (a brand-new quadra-band Samsung monster phone). It did NOT solve the no-signal problem.

4 drop calls per phone conversation. Cingular SUCKS around UCI campus. I don't know how others are. If they are the same I suggest to have a phone card instead of cell phone. They are worthless, at least CINGULAR service here.

Fairly dead area but this phone works quite well, whereas two previous phones from Sony-Ericsson were dismal.

Cingular sucks! Complained about coverage, but they are "working on it"... Ten dropped calls a day, no lie!

My house is a cellular dead zone. I have to walk out to my next door neighbor's driveway to make a call.

Inside my apartment which faces into a courtyard, I have very poor reception, maybe 1 bar when I stand at the patio door or bedroom window.

good grief. exiting bonita canyon, phone calls drop every time. also, heading west on newport coast drive, the coverage is piddly at best... .i don't even get a chance to say "can you hear me now?"

I have 3 bars currently. However, atleast 4-5 times a day, it goes down to 0 and then it shows: "No Service - SOS Only" Comes back to 4 bars in 1 minute. Result: Dropped calls, Calls don't get routed. Network is very unreliable.

Reception inside the house is now good, having switched models from an earlier Sony-Ericsson. No dropped calls to date when out and about, as well. Peculiar business where the product being sold does not have to work!

Phone works great everywhere except area off Bryan, phone has no service then shuts off. Has been this way for years. Black hole.

When I am anywhere in VDC and am not using my phone it will usually show about 3 bars but as soon as I try to make or receive a call it drops to zero bars. As soon as this happens the line starts breaking up and then usually drops a few seconds later. It doesn't matter if I am inside or outside, the signal is still terrible. I had ATT prior to Cingular and switched hoping for an improvement in signal but there has been none.

Most all residents in our Assn. (Turtle Rock Pointe) report zero or very poor reception in our area. This includes users of Verizon, T Mobile, Nextel and Sprint.

Signal drops out every time I drive on this part of the road. Happens to everyone else on I know on Cingular Wireless

No recption at home and at the office. I'm forced to forward my number to a landline to recieve calls!

Constantly dropped calls as I turn South onto Eastwood. Switched back to OLD Nokia candy bar phone and now just REALLY poor / untalkable reception.

REALLY BAD! Dropped calls, no service from customer service! They hang up on you even though you wait more than 10 minutes to talk to them, they can't give you more than 3 minutes!

Reception bars don't really tell the whole story. I have been recieving notifications for Text messages, voice mails (missed calls don't even show up!) upto 24 hours later...! Voice quality varies all the time. Worst of all, sometimes my phone goes out of service area right outside my door.

Onside my house the reception is one bar but as soon as I walk outside, the reception jumps to full bar. Cingular is very good in the UCI area. Most of the time its full bar. Luckily my calls don't fail inside my house. It just hardly has enough signal to get through I'm guessing.

Horrible phone plus horrible Recption Where ever I go there's only one bar. Boo for Cingular.

Different parts of the house give diff. reception. If upstairs near window, get 2 bars. If downstairs, get only 1/2 bar, and end up having to step outside. The reception was good about 1-year ago, but has deteriorated within the last 6 months.

Great reception most of the time, one black hole for all providers in one area.
