Sometimes spotty 4G coverage. There one minute and without moving, gone the next, mostly on clear mornings. What's up with Verizon??? I know I'm not an expert on air waves, but sitting at my desk without moving and going from 4X to 3X to 1X and sometimes nothing throughout the day just seems odd and sucks when using unlimited data to listen to Pandora... (company won't let me connect through their network) :( But the majority of the time, I get a strong 4X connection so it's overall a good service.

Very poor reception at the San Leon Villa Apartments. I usually have to stand outside in my balcony and even then I get a lot of dropped calls. Verizon step your game up, and really "rule the air."

I've been on Verizon for the last 7 or so years. From my house I get a bar or two of service. Not as bad considering I was on T-Mobile for a year and I had no service even in my own house! In all honesty GSM phones around irvine (excluding the spectrum) have bad service in general. For that one year I was on T-Mobile my phone was basically an expensive pager. Verizon and Sprint would be the best choices for this area. If you travel international just have an extra unlocked GSM phone and you should be fine. I would prefer GSM to CDMA if the service was better though...

very good reception anywhere in the irvine ranch, even in the newly developed village / park over at the spectrum... on top of turtle ridge, on crystal cove, I get good coverage and reception everywhere. I also travel extensively, and thus far, I haven't encountered any major reception issues. just a few dropped calls when crossing noman's land.

None of our family can get any reception on our Verizon phones in our home. We have a big ironic laugh fest every time a Verizon commerical comes on touting their "network"... .WHAT network? In fact, on any given day you can walk outside and see people talking on their cell phones at the highest point of the neighborhood. When you ask, "Verizon", they all shake their head yes.

I live in the Palo Verde Housing area and just switched from a month of bad Sprint service (a couple of dropped calls during a 1-2 hour chat was typical) to horrid Verizon service (10+ dropped calls in one 30-minute conversation!). Sprint is actually pretty good and I'm kind of kicking myself for leaving them now. Nevertheless, they aren't great in this area, and I'm considering the big switch to AT&T, perhaps the iPhone. I've had two people with iPhones stay here for days with nary a dropped call.

Does anyone get good recpetion at The Village? If so please let me know because my current contract is about to expire this week and I would be open to switching to Sprint, At&t, or T-Mobile if the reception is any better. Please comment. Thanks

Doesn't matter what service I get, it's always horrible reception. Probably cuz there isn't enough reception towers where I live in turtle rock. I haven't tried Cingular since they merged with AT&T but still... .. Sometimes, I can get make a call with 1 or 2 bars, but it's really bad. If resident's don't want to see those towers so badly, why can't they just hide them inside those street lights or make them look better????????????? I want my cell phone! to work!

Before I signed up with VZW, I tested out T-Mobile (no bars whatsoever). Verizon is somewhat of an improvement, considering I do get 2-3 bars. Dropped calls are a part of everyday life, sadly enough. I think the area is just a black hole for all cell phone coverage.

Verizon is by far the very best service I've ever had. Most always have full signal throughout Orange County. Only once or twice a year do I have a dropped call and it's very rare that I have down to 1 bar. Their only problem is they don't have a good match for T-Mobile's Sidekick, which my wife really wants, but I'm trying hard to change her mind because their coverage is so terrible.

Phone will show 5 bars, then while looking at the display, will drop to 0 bars, then slowly climb back up to five. This is while not using or moving the phone at all! My previous phone (LG VX10) displayed similar behavior. I get intermittant dropouts of audio during conversations, and some call drops as well. This all happens in and around my house; other areas are fine.

I have no regrets with Verizon in my area. My roomates have Cingular and Nextel and they have no reception in our apartment. When we first moved in I had an LG VX6000 with no service. Then upgraded to a Motorola v265 and had excellent service. After breaking it, I got a Nokia which has great service in all of Irvine. Stop complaining about verizon... your phone sucks. get a new one.

Verizon Wireless was great in the bay area (of course) but when we moved here we got 140 dropped calls in one month. When we called Verizon they said they had towers all over the place and it must be our phones. We of course are stuck in a 2yr contract. Don't do verizon. I hear Sprint and TMobile are the best based on friends reviews as well as this website

I use to have an LGVX6100. Had horrible reception with Verizon. Called to complain and they gave me a $50 credit. Continued to complain (politely) and threatened to switch to another carrier. They then offered $100 credit towards a new phone. I ended up getting the Motorola 265. Reception has been great in all areas of Orange County and LA County. I know believe it was the LGVX6100 that caused the poor reception. I once put my LG next to my friends Motorola to see the difference. He had 4 bars while I had 1. We both have Verizon. Seems like the sales reps are pushing the LG phones. I think the profit margin is greater for those phones, but they SUCK. They even talked me into upgrading my software on the phone which wasted 40 min. of my day. I noticed no difference.

I have had 5 top line phones, and 3 different services (Nextel, Cingular, and Verizon), and regardless the phone or provider, I cannot use cellular phones in my neighborhood. (unless I walk to the corner, face SSW 30 degrees, and squat in such a way that the phone is 3'7" from the ground).
