No reception inside the building unless I stand by the exteior door. There's a T-Mobile store nearby and they admit the reception in the area is lousy.
In our apartment we have to be by a window to get reception, or else we lose the signal. Otherwise reception in LB is pretty good, except for a little area on Livingston just before it hits 2nd where the signal is weak.
Never really had too much of a problem with Cingular. I have read alot of complaints here... *fingers crossed* I had Sprint and they were alright too... except there customer service was HORRIBLE. Unless they outsourced the call to India, where I had the most educated, well-spoken and genuinely attentive CSR's, who even went so far as to call me back the next day to MAKE SURE everything had gone thru okay. Let me repeat, they called me. So much for keeping it in the good ole USA. The thing to remember, is all cell phone service providers are evil. They are making uncalculatable amounts of profit and hanging you (their customer) out to dry on extortion-like lenghty contracts. The moral is find one that works for you. BTW - the quality and make of phone helps significantly. I get good service at home, on the road and with the help of unlocked phones, even when I travel out of the country. All I could want is a louder speaker phone option, coz when you're driving, or busy outside swinging an axe / hammer / golf club and logic dictates you can't do that with the phone pressed to your ear, you can't hear a thing. I wonder how that Motorola RAZR is?
The only time I got reception in the grocery store was when standing next to the meat aisle. There is poor reception in the plaza outdoors. Very shoddy service in this area... I often leave a store and receive several voicemails from people trying to reach me.
Like other reviewers, I would sat that reception in the Long Beach, Signal Hill area is terrible. Service with ATT was o.k. but Cinguar is a waste of money. A million free rollover minutes won't do you any good in this area. My Nokia (I've had 2and a Motorola) is a paperweight. Good thing the Nokia is supplied by work. (No one can ever reach me!) My personal carrier is Verizon (LG VX600). It isn't perfect, but I pay for this one and I'll stick with them.
I moved matter of 5 blocks to Granada Ave, to find that I get no service at all. Unbelievable! I was forced to buy a freakin magic jack so I can get calls in my home. I want to leave, but need my Iphone. I wish I could just get a few bars atleast. I mean C'mon AT&T!
I've been happy with Sprint until recently when they merged with Nextel. Signal is fine. Phone is good. Prices okay. But I do not like the web-site and customer service changes since the merger. A new billing system is being phased in. Can you believe that in this age of identity theft, they are asking for pass words and pin numbers over the phone before they will help you? The old system they would ask for last four of Social Security number. I'm very disappointed. Since my contract expires in 7 days, I am checking out Verizon after reading the mostly good comments about them here as opposed to the lousy comments for the other carriers.
