95% of the time I have a good signal ever since I moved here in Santa Monica except for a few times when satellite signal is not at best.I do recommend though for people who are experiencing drop calls to go to a ATT store and have your simcard replaced with a new one for free.ATT produces new simcards that are updated with their new towers and chances are you got a very old simcard.
I cannot use my phone in my apartment without the call dropping EVERY time. If I go outside, I can manage to complete a call, but reception is horrible and I'm constantly having to ask people to repeat themselves. This RIDICULOUS! I really want to upgrade to an iPhone, and the only thing stopping me is this seriously sub-par service. When will AT&T and Apple get a clue? I would think that Los Angeles would be considered an important client base.
Woo Hoo! Ported my number over from AT&T to Verizon Wireless and Best Buy gave me my Motorola Droid EARLY! I LOVE THIS PHONE! And know what's better? I can KEEP a call with out it dropping! Also, my data speeds are FAST! I am so happy to be gone from AT&T. I would really look into Verizon and the Motorola Droid or the Droid Eris by HTC. Sprint wasn't even this good when I had them before my iPhone 3G. THANK YOU VERIZON! You have a GREAT network!
I used to have T-Mobile when I was at USC. loved it never knew what dropped calls meant. Then came Iphone and I switched to AT&T. My job requires me to get on conference calls. Till date I have not been able to make it through a single call with out getting my call dropped. I now moved to Park Labrea apartments near the Grove. Reception is absolutely pathetic. I love the IPHONE but and will be switching to Verizon next week when Droid get released. I have traveled all over USA NY,Florida, Arizona, Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Colorado and ATT DROPS CALLS NO MATTER WHERE I GO... My contract got over this month and I am dumping my iphone(will use it as an ipod). I FEEL FREE ATLAST.. I can finally have a phone service that works.
i live in the hollywood hills in a house with one small spot where I can get reception. only reason I have AT&T is due to owning an iphone; but will switch the minute another carrier is added. may even switch phones if I learn that AT&T will maintain exclusivity. I can often drive a miles from labrea and franklin all the way to sunset and fairfax without getting reception. yet I can be in the mountains of california, an area without a dense population, and have perfect reception. AT&T is horrible and APPLE should do right by their loyal customers and eliminate the exclusivity and bring on Verizon or another carrier. if AT&T cant figure out how to bring good coverage to a heavily populated city like los angeles, they dont deserve apples exclusivity on such a popular phone like the iphone. if they lose the exclusivity, watch AT&T stock tumble and fall; just the wake up call they need!
H O R R I B L E. Love my iphone, but really considering ditching it because of AT&T service. I pay sooooo a month and all I get is dropped calls and no service. Called AT&T about it, but my call dropped... AT&T needs to PULL IT TOGETHER.
My husband and I used to have perfect reception in our home, in the garage... all over the place, and all of the sudden a few months ago, we can only make calls in the home if we stand next to a specific window. Huge disappointment. After soooo many years with AT&T we are both considering switching to another carrier. I'm not sure why with all of this feedback, they are doing nothing about this! Maybe if enough people abandon ship, they'll finally figure it out.
Usually varies from 1-2 bars, fluctuating between EDGE and 3G coverage. Occasionally I will jump to 5 bars with 3G but that will last only a minute or two. Often times I will lose service all together and get a "No Service" message
I had more dropped calls with AT&T in the first 3 months I was with them than the entire year and a half I was with T-Mobile! The WORST service ever... the only reason most people have them is for the I-Phone. I have ONE spot in my entire apartment that I can make a call! HORRIBLE... and the pricing is outrageous compared to the other companies. I wish I had done my research before switching! A lesson learned.
AT&T was the ABSOLUTE worse service in West Hollywood. It too got no reception in my house, and I couldn't even drive down Sunset (west-bound) and have a conversation on the phone without multiple disconnections. The service was sooooo bad that I recently switched back to Sprint and picked up a Palm Pre. Being a Mac freak myself, I was really expecting a downgrade as far as phones go. You know what, the Pre is awesome. There are some things I miss about the iPhone, but there are an equal number of things I like more about the Pre. Ohhhh... reception. I have it now; in my house, on the road, no problems! Not only is the coverage WAY better, but my monthly cost is less. AT&T was awesome in other places I've been to (New Jersey, Las Vegas, SF Valley, San Diego), but as far as my hood goes, it SUX!
