I am so extemely dissapointed with the Sprint signal at home. I have zero bars almost all the time, my calls drop, texting takes forever to send and not to mention the Internet, can't even open up a page!. Ived tried calling Sprint customer service n they provide zero help at all. I think it's time to swap to tmobile, what a shame considering how nice the phones the Sprint carries are.

I've had Sprint for many years, mostly because I have a low priced plan that they don't offer anymore. But I have had it. The reception is pretty bad in this area and I could barely make calls at home, if I could get any bars at all, it's choppy, and then it always drops the call. The most awful thing was when I needed to call 911 and COULD NOT GET THROUGH.

I get pretty decent reception with Sprint / Virgin Mobile at my home. Sometimes a little bit of fading and an occasional dropped call. Had AT&T prior to switching to Sprint / Virgin Mobile. AT&T does not work in this part of the neighborhood despite what their maps say. I was never able to use my AT&T cell phone here. Terrible reception, constant fading, dropped calls, when someone would try to call, call would go directly to voicemail, when trying to make a call bars would drop to zero and call would not connect. AT&T is pretty much useless here. A couple of my neighbors have Verizon which appear to work in this neighborhood too.

Sprint service in the residential neighborhood around this intersection this area has been abysmal for the last few months--two bars maximum dropping to ZERO bars and dropped calls. Service used to be fine but reconfiguration of the cell antennas must be the culprit making Sprint almost useless in this area.

Great coverage. Works well in hills and great in sfv. Gets absolutely no service in Griffith Park but no one really does. Always have full bars and great service anywhere west of la brea. Always have service in hollywood hills only problem is sometimes don't get 3g in my house but still have 4 bars of 2g which is fine for calls but slow for data. Miles ahead of AT&T no comparison and better than Verizon in the hills.

Boost Mobile reception in Mar Vista is HORRIBLE. I have to walk in certain parts of my house to get a reception and even then it still disconnects alot. I'm thinking of switching over from Boost to Metro PCS because they are offering that special for only $30 a month for unlimited calls / texts. Does anyone have feedback about Metro PCS in the Mar Vista / Marina Del Rey area? If I switch over it's got to be better than this reception with Boost, otherwise, I'll just stay with Boost.

AT&T was the ABSOLUTE worse service in West Hollywood. It too got no reception in my house, and I couldn't even drive down Sunset (west-bound) and have a conversation on the phone without multiple disconnections. The service was sooooo bad that I recently switched back to Sprint and picked up a Palm Pre. Being a Mac freak myself, I was really expecting a downgrade as far as phones go. You know what, the Pre is awesome. There are some things I miss about the iPhone, but there are an equal number of things I like more about the Pre. Ohhhh... reception. I have it now; in my house, on the road, no problems! Not only is the coverage WAY better, but my monthly cost is less. AT&T was awesome in other places I've been to (New Jersey, Las Vegas, SF Valley, San Diego), but as far as my hood goes, it SUX!

Sprint reception bars don't matter. My wife and I get multiple dropped calls per day!, even when at 5 bars. Multipppple calls striaght to voice mail. We are always having to repeat what we say - sound quality is horrible. Even happens when we call Sprint customer service - their solution was to say that our 1 year old phones were too old - LOL. Dropped calls happen all over Los Angeles / Santa Monica - so it's not a location / tower problem. We are sorry we ever switched to Sprint. The quality of the voice is horrible - sounds like we're talking over tin cans. I borrowed someones phone (Verizon service), and it sounded so clear. We cannot wait to switch back to Verizon.

We've had tons of problems with fraud, and Sprint has been awful about resolving our issues. We've wasted countless hours on hold with Sprint, and are frequently disconnected. We have been with Sprint for one year and we still have one more year left on our contract. Sprint does really suck it is a good company good reputation--however when I called and expalined to Sprint that I had poor to zero service at my house I was told--"we do not guarantee that your phone will work in your house" so I say--what company who spends countless millions of dollars worldwide on advertising and maketing to promote their product as the best---well, I do not think it is necessary anymore---i am not blaming the representative with whom I spoke---but I do blame and hold at fault the Sprint company for poor customer relations and miserable service to the consumer

I made the biggest mistake--switched from Nextel to Sprint. With all other carriers in the LA / Mid-Wilshire area I couldn't even get reception in my own home. Nextel was the only company that had clear reception, excellent call quality and few dropped calls. Switched to Sprint ONLY because I liked the features of their phones and I assumed they were on Nextel's network. WRONG move. No one can ever hear me and I can barely hear my callers. Will switch back to Nextel or try Cingular.

There was one occasion when I actually had to make a 911 call but could not do so for about 10 minutes. Thankfully it was a neighborhood watch issue and not a medical emergency. However, this is still far from acceptable. If you're thinking about Sprint for this area (which is mostly residential condos and single family homes), consider the following. There is a school about a block away from here, Short Ave. School. If your child was being followed or needed to call someone for help one day, knowing what my experience was like, are you comfortable trusting Sprint to be the carrier?

Flutters between no bars and 1 bar irrespective of whether you're indoors or outdoors. Approximately 20% of the time, the phone goes stupid trying to look for service and eventually winding up in analog roam mode. The most irritating thing about Sprint service in this area is that incoming calls simply don't come through... about 10-15 minutes after and incoming call was placed, the phone will chime to let me know I have voicemail. I don't see why the phone couldn't have just rung when the call was made so that I could simply answer the phone... as opposed to having to check my messages and call someone back 15 minutes later.

Update to the Oct 12, 2005 posting: Service has been pretty good since that month of roaming, dropouts, or no reception. My phone gets 4 bars most of the time, but does look for service on rare occasions. Sanyo phones do indeed have the best reception. Two friends on a Sprint plan with new Samsungs have been by, and their phones don't get as strong a signal. My next phone upgrade will remain a Sanyo. A neighbor was frustrated with the Sprint reception problems around here and switched to Cingular, but her service is very spotty. Glad I stuck it out with Sprint. Knock on wood.

It makes me laugh to see some Sprint employee must have left the note dated Nov. 15, 2005 that says the coverage is "good" in this area. Calls are constantly dropped or won't go through. Reception bars vacillate from 0-1, both north and south of Pico. All in all since the Nextel Merge Sprint coverage in Los Angeles has plummeted--many dropped calls. Coverage used to be OK in LA-I have been with them for 4 years- but now coverage.."hello?" 'Hello?" "did I lose you?"... you get the idea. Customer service are useless liars. Go with Verizon in LA. Friends with Verizon report good service throughout LA area.

I always have PERFECT reception here at home. Almost perfect reception all over LA County. I took the Amtrak train up to Santa Barbara, had a connected call the entire time (except for under the tunnel of course.) Same with service on the train all the way to San Diego. Sprint has excellent coverage in Southern California.

I live in Ktown, Sprint sucks inside my apt. All calls are dropped within 2 minutes or less. My phone roams frequently and sucks the life out of the battery. Outside my apt, reception is better but still poor - calls are about 3-5 minutes until I hit a dead zone. I'm switching soon, though from reading all the complaints, I'm not sure which carrier can give me just one more bar and at least 10 minutes of talk - or at least enough time to order a pizza.

Terrible or no reception the last two weeks. Often roaming, dropped calls, out of range, or phone doesn't ring. Can't even dial *2 to call Sprint. Need to use a landline. Each Sprint tech gives a different explanation, some plain idiotic. A major adjustment had to have been made recently since reception was excellent in this location the past 2 yrs. A neighbor said Sprint told her that since the Sprint / Nextel merger, there has been reception and coverage problems in So Cal. Coverage still seems fine everywhere else except where I live. Been with Sprint for 8 yrs but I am looking to switch.

Reception bars on phone jump from 3 to zero to 1 to 2 to zero and so on constantly. Almost all calls either don't connect "out of range" or if connected are dropped. Reception used to be fine in this area. Sprint "customer care" pretends to "reconfigure the software" when complaints are called in which obviously does not fix the problem

My wife and I had Verizon and we could barely get calls in our house, halfway up Beachwwod, with many droped calls or straight to voicemail. Tried T-Mobile - same or worse. Tried Sprint! and got pretty good reception! - Phone works all over our house, and my wife and I talked all the way to her work, where previously she allways hit a dead spot on the Verizon network that droped her calls. If you live in the Hollywood Hills / Beachwood Canyon, then Sprint is the phone service to get. I even get a good internet connection on my phone now!

Sometimes my phone will show 1 bar, but at other times it will show 2, 3, or 4 bars. It is not consistent. Irregardless of the number of bars showing, reception service is extremely poor all over my house lot and nearby neighbors. Scratchy sound; dropped calls, etc. Sometimes, my phone will not ring at all, but will beep me later to notify me that voicemails have been left (hours ago). Occasionally, while my phone is idle, it will "beep" and a "No Signal" message will appear on the display. I habitually keep my phone switched off while at home - and I must get in my car and drive out of my area to a market parking lot in order to retrieve saved messages and to make and receive calls. In contrast, I've had friends serving in Iraq call me from their cell phones onto my hard-wired home phone... sounding clear as a bell.

I switched from AT&T to Sprint about two years ago and it revolutionized my cell phone use. AT&T was, compared to Sprint, a rookie company in the field of wireless technology. Sprint has figured it out because I have very few dropped calls, I never have breakup or static on any of my calls and I get reception almost EVERYWHERE! The only place I don't is in the silver lake hills but still, even there it's rare that I don't have at least 2 bars! Never had Verizon but heard they were running a close second.

ERGOLAD: My tests with Sprint so far have show that their signal strength is weak to non-existent. However, when a signal is found, unlike Cingular, it proves to be more consistent. I've noticed that a signal of 1 bar on this particular model of phone is no indication of any kind of reliable signal. Throughout the rest of LA coverage has proven to be fairly good. Plan Prices are OK but the lack of a cost effective forwarding option to cover the hole here in service make Sprint impractical for me. Discussions with Sprint support and technicians that service Silver Lake report that this is a known low coverage area in the network and there are no current plans to improve it.

Sprint has got the Silver Lake area covered. There customer service has improved so much over the past two years. They are the only company besides Verizon that use CDMA (instead of the primative GSM system) in the PCS frequency. I get the clearest calls, it sounds like im using a land line phone. This company is so advanced in terms of technology. They have the fastest internet on your phone. And I can connect my phone to my computer using a cable I bought and get FREE High Speed wireless internet acces while im traveling! All the spots that my friends say there is no service, Sprint has got it. The ONLY place there is no service is around the Silver Lake Reservoir. I called them to report it and they said they are working to get coverage there. The lady said that on her computer it says they are running into community and city property issues to install cell phone tower right next to the Reservoir.
