It's weak but, it connects with no issue. Getting a little static but, not horrible. 3G network speeds are great here if it connects... . that is IF it connects.

4-5 bars even while in buildings. No dropped calls. All EDGE network so far... still waiting for 3G to come! Video still works well though.

When I moved here, my v557 got GREAT reception with Cingular. 5 bars, no problems. Then after the AT&T merger the signal dropped to 1 bar, constant dropping. Then I lost my antenna on the v557 - and the signal was 5 bars again! When I bought a new antenna, it dropped to 1. So then I would take the antenna out at home and put it in when I left. Now I have a Blackjack and no way to remove the antenna. 1 bar and lots of drops.

I made the biggest mistake--switched from Nextel to Sprint. With all other carriers in the LA / Mid-Wilshire area I couldn't even get reception in my own home. Nextel was the only company that had clear reception, excellent call quality and few dropped calls. Switched to Sprint ONLY because I liked the features of their phones and I assumed they were on Nextel's network. WRONG move. No one can ever hear me and I can barely hear my callers. Will switch back to Nextel or try Cingular.

There was one occasion when I actually had to make a 911 call but could not do so for about 10 minutes. Thankfully it was a neighborhood watch issue and not a medical emergency. However, this is still far from acceptable. If you're thinking about Sprint for this area (which is mostly residential condos and single family homes), consider the following. There is a school about a block away from here, Short Ave. School. If your child was being followed or needed to call someone for help one day, knowing what my experience was like, are you comfortable trusting Sprint to be the carrier?

Flutters between no bars and 1 bar irrespective of whether you're indoors or outdoors. Approximately 20% of the time, the phone goes stupid trying to look for service and eventually winding up in analog roam mode. The most irritating thing about Sprint service in this area is that incoming calls simply don't come through... about 10-15 minutes after and incoming call was placed, the phone will chime to let me know I have voicemail. I don't see why the phone couldn't have just rung when the call was made so that I could simply answer the phone... as opposed to having to check my messages and call someone back 15 minutes later.

Have rarely had any issues with service in this location. AT&T / Cingular service has improved considerably in LA over the past few years.

Reception comes and goes. Frequently get choppy reception followed by a dropped call. Switched to Vzn a few years back because Cingular was so bad, but if anything Verizon has worsened over time.

No reception. Sometimes I get two bars, but when I pick up the call drops. I can't call out. Sprint told me they were adding towers... I looked at the areas- the added towers wont make a difference!

the reception I get throughout the area is horrible, but the most frustrating is at my house. rarely works, and if it does, it will inevitably cut out sometime during the conversation, no matter how short. I am switching because it is useless for me to have a phone at home that I can not use.

Inconsistent... seems to depend on time of day. Definitely not perfect reception, just okay. Whether inside or outside, there is the occasional static and / or drop-out.

Parts of campus are all right, such as outside University Hall or over near the Loyola Blvd. exit. But on most areas of campus, such as around the library or outside the student union, my phone gets horrible reception. Outside, I can sometimes make a call, but it usually gets cut off. Inside, no reception at all.

Works fine for 5 to 10 minutes then MAJOR static. This also happens to my friend who has T-mobile. Worked fine for a year on T-Mobile... but in the last 2-3 weeks this happens with nearly every phone call.

I've been here 2 years. All of a sudden my reception got progressively worse. Customer service is HORRIBLE. They said it was my phone but I beat the system since I tried my old sim card in 2 different phones, and just activated a new sim card in both phones. Still NO reception. I have full bars but everytime I make a call it's Network Busy. Anyway, a customer rep told me once that a "tower was down in TX." I told her I was in LA. She only said that because she saw my area code was from Houston. I'm very very disappointed in Cingular / the "new" AT&T.
