I always have PERFECT reception here at home. Almost perfect reception all over LA County. I took the Amtrak train up to Santa Barbara, had a connected call the entire time (except for under the tunnel of course.) Same with service on the train all the way to San Diego. Sprint has excellent coverage in Southern California.

My husband and I just moved to this area and had zero to two bars both inside and outside the house. It was totally inconsistent. I had T-Mobile and he had Cingular, and we both had different phones. We were reluctant to join Verizon because their phone choices were so awful, and we both really wanted Nokia's. We made one last stop at DialNet on Melrose. Peter (very knowledgeable and honest) suggested we try phones with GSM / GPRS 850. We took home the 6230 and tried it out--it worked perfectly both inside and outside the house, AND have had no dropped calls anywhere so far. After this experience, my recommendation is to forget having to change carriers--just get a phone with GSM / GPRS 850 and hopefully it will work as well as ours--we both have the Nokia 6230 with Cingular providers and are happy to say the problem seems to be solved.

At my house off Museum Drive, almost no coverage - my phone doesn't even get analog roam, my gf's roams only while on the back porch.

I live in Ktown, Sprint sucks inside my apt. All calls are dropped within 2 minutes or less. My phone roams frequently and sucks the life out of the battery. Outside my apt, reception is better but still poor - calls are about 3-5 minutes until I hit a dead zone. I'm switching soon, though from reading all the complaints, I'm not sure which carrier can give me just one more bar and at least 10 minutes of talk - or at least enough time to order a pizza.

I've used about 5 different phone models. They all work the same. This whole area is a known to be a deadzone for at least Cingular, which I use. Rarely, I can actually get ph call inside my home. Usually I can have flakey service outside my home, sometimes I have to walk a couple blocks to find a spot usuable. A few blocks away and there is great service. It varies street to street, hill to hill. Lately AT&T towers connect to it. Seems this area is in between Cingular and ATT, because it can flip flop minute to minute, or by moving it a couple feet. Calling Cingular over the past few years, they've been saying new towers are on the way... my advice is to never believe any promises / statements. Go with what you can prove works now. Test out services via friends phones.

Beachwood Dr. / Scenic, Los Angeles, CA 90068 Tue Nov 08, 2005

I live in Beachwood Canyon... lower end of the Hollywood Hills at Beachwood and Scenic Dr.and my cell phone reception with AT&T (now Cingular) has always been terrible. I get no reception at all in my home. My phone will ring but often the calls go straight to voice mail. If I walk outside to the street I can make calls but I've never had more than 3 bars and the line drops sometimes mid-call. I'm over it and I'm ready to switch. I was going to buy into a Verizon plan until I discovered this site and saw the feedback re: Spring PCS.

I have always had very good blackberry reception from Cingular near my home... that is until yesterday. Service has gone to absolutely zero. What's all the more infuriating is the 3 "bars" of service that they may as well have painted on the face of the blackberry, because it's utter crap. I am now reduced to driving up to Beverly Glen and circling around until all my inbound and outbound emails clear. DO NOT get Cingular for anything until this problem is solved.

Terrible or no reception the last two weeks. Often roaming, dropped calls, out of range, or phone doesn't ring. Can't even dial *2 to call Sprint. Need to use a landline. Each Sprint tech gives a different explanation, some plain idiotic. A major adjustment had to have been made recently since reception was excellent in this location the past 2 yrs. A neighbor said Sprint told her that since the Sprint / Nextel merger, there has been reception and coverage problems in So Cal. Coverage still seems fine everywhere else except where I live. Been with Sprint for 8 yrs but I am looking to switch.

Sometimes get one bar within my condo. Often can only get Digital Roaming ( Xtra cost, of course)... ..and this is one block away from the Sprint store. I tell them that reception within a block of their store sucks... .and they don't believe me.

Verizon has poor coverage on the south half of the USC campus. You would think cell phone carriers would want to provide good service for college students still spending out of their parents' checkbooks.

All calls dropped when heading north on Crescent Heights Blvd. at Sunset Blvd. Sprint states this is not a problem area but I checked the area on several different Sprint customer's phones. This is a fairly new problem area. Seems Sprint cut down on towers negatively effecting coverage.

All calls drop as passing through Park LaBrea apartment complex on Hauser Street. A few years ago this was a common problem. For about the last two years there was reception in this area. Now for about three months all calls are dropped. Sprint insists there is no problem in this area.
