AT&T Is a complete joke! I left Sprint for ATT And that was the worst mistake of my life! I drop 99% of all calls and when I am connected, I cant even understand the other party due to static and reception breaking up. When I talk on my phone Im always told it sounds like Im talking into a wind tunnel while holding my phone backwards facing the wind. WHAT A JOKE! For the record, I also have AT&T DSL And I basically get the same issues! DSL is always dropping connection and my speeds are slower than dial up and I pay extra for the Pro- Elite Business plan that is suppose to guarantee speeds between 4-6Mbps but I average 2Mbps. AT&T Should be ashamed of themselves. I pay for mobil services and they do not give me the service... They guarantee me a speed for DSL, and I do not even come close to the speeds! I hope AT&T Gets this matter taken to court and pays dearly for false advertising and not meeting contracted terms of agreement. By not meeting all terms in the contract AT&T Should allow me to walk away with a clean bill and select another provider with no penalty! How does AT&T legally get away their actions and continue charging the customer for "breaking a contract" when AT&T never upheld to anything on their end?? This is BS! DO NOT USE AT&T For ANYTHING! THey are garbage and I would NEVER recommend AT&T TO anyone!

With my I-phone 3G I get abysmal reception in the area below the Hollywood sign. Sometimes the phone will ring, but the signal's rarely strong enough to make a connection and on the rare occasion that it connects, the conversation will be dropped within a minute. Instead of showing bars, my phone most often simply says "searching." Contrary to their reception map, there is no AT&T reception whatsoever in upper Beachwood Canyon with an I-phone and it's practically non-existent on the hilltops.

I live north of Franklin, east of Cahuenga, and I'm lucky if I get one bar in my house. Often, I have no service. And if I do get a call out, it drops. I have to stand out on the sidewalk to make a call, and even then, I only have three bars. AT&T Customer Service told me, "It's a cellphone. We don't guarantee coverage indoors." WTF? I'm switching to Verizon next week. Anything will be better than AT&T.

I live this area last couple of years. Verizon coverage is really poor in my area. Calls dropped, and I lost many calls, reception and talking is really terrible. This areas seems to no Verizon cell towers within a couple of miles also.

My iPhone came early! I picked it up yesterday at USPS. My service is great with Verizon. Sprint roams on them in my house, T-Mobile and AT&T have zip-1 bar and Metro has nothing. To the person below, maybe it is your house or phone. They also make 3G Network Extenders. I haven't had any problems tho.

I've lived here for 6 months and I get absolutely NO reception in my home / office. I also cannot get my messages because if you don't have reception, you don't get the voice mail either, at least not with Verizon Wireless. I have called them several times and get NO Satisfaction. I am waiting for my contract to run out and then switching. I am paying way too much for service that I receive only when I'm not at home and a minimum of 2 miles from my house, in Los Angeles CA. I hesitate to upgrade to the iphone because I will not be able to to use it anyway. I would love to hear from someone in my area who has reception.

I've got the typical iPhone experience - love the phone, hate the network. AT&T coverage is horrendous. Work on mid-Wilshire and there is a huge dead zone around 6th / Fairfax. But, c'mon - let's give AT&T a break... why should we expect them to offer basic coverage in the middle of Los Angeles? It's just such frustrating service. I'm thankful it works in my residence, but just drops calls ALL the time (and not just in the usual canyon spots). Saturday was a perfect example - driving from downtown to Studio on the 101. My call was dropped... wait for it... FOUR times. I just laugh now. The only choice now is which carrier to jump to.

in and out reception through wilshire and voicemail messages show up days later. phone was less than 1 years old. we have the AT&T family plan and are paying at least $100 - $120 a month- too expensive for crappy service. we just finished our contract and am thinking of switching to verizon.

I used to get 3 bars in my home with my Samsung freeform metro PCS phone, now I get no reception what so ever. I have to get into my car and drive several blocks away to even get my voicemail messages, let alone make a phone call. The phone drops calls constantly. Beware!

I've had Sprint for many years, mostly because I have a low priced plan that they don't offer anymore. But I have had it. The reception is pretty bad in this area and I could barely make calls at home, if I could get any bars at all, it's choppy, and then it always drops the call. The most awful thing was when I needed to call 911 and COULD NOT GET THROUGH.

AT&T... horrible. Live up in Beachwood Canyon (Right under the Hollywood Sign). I have never been able to make a phone call in my house. I mean NEVER. I'm able to make a call when I drive down Beachwood Dr. reaching Franklin Blvd. What was it again? "at&t nation's fastest network". Looking around for something new.

AT&T sucks balls in the Century City area. If calls were dropped, that would be an improvement - half the time, there just is not enough coverage to even make a call! I'm so sick of seeing "No Service" on my iPhone... what the hell am I paying AT&T $100 / mo for again?

I'm in Hollywood / Hancock park / Mid Wilshire area and now using T-Mobile. I had serious problems with Sprint three years ago in this area, so I switched to Verizon for the last two years. Reception with them was excellent, but my bills were HUGE! I have switched to T-Mobile and am blown away at how good reception is in this area - jus as good as Verizon. The 4g web connection is very, very fast and serves my new Android phone very well - I now do more browsing / emailing on my phone than my PC since voice recognition on the new Androids (2.2) means I no longer need to use the on-screen keyboard. This phone blows away the iPhone. Call quality is excellent - no dropped calls.

I can't believe I've stayed with ATT this long considering the poor reception I get. I don't think Sprint works well so I'm on the hunt for something else. ATT also doesn't have very good phones.

Verizon coverage is poor, calls dropped, a "dead-zone" on the way up from Sunset Blvd., lots of static from incoming calls and people I call get garbled signal. Texting seems to work okay, but sending pictures takes forever, sometimes 'times-out'. Am told its the topography, there are no Verizon cell towers within a couple of miles.

The worst service possible. We would not get calls shown on our phones when people call us, and when we call out to other phones, they would have no idea that we tried to call them, no matter where we are. It's the worst when you're out there, trying to meet up with people, and they don't get your calls and you don't receive calls. By far the worst service we've ever experienced on all 3 of our phone lines. Despite numerous attempts of complaints over phone, in store, exchange phones, nothing improves after 6 months since we started service. Just got 2 months of credit back from the manager since they do not waive the cancellation charge, and I'm going to cancel the service today. DO NOT SWITCH TO AT / T.

I get pretty decent reception with Sprint / Virgin Mobile at my home. Sometimes a little bit of fading and an occasional dropped call. Had AT&T prior to switching to Sprint / Virgin Mobile. AT&T does not work in this part of the neighborhood despite what their maps say. I was never able to use my AT&T cell phone here. Terrible reception, constant fading, dropped calls, when someone would try to call, call would go directly to voicemail, when trying to make a call bars would drop to zero and call would not connect. AT&T is pretty much useless here. A couple of my neighbors have Verizon which appear to work in this neighborhood too.

When I first got my Nextel phone, the reception up here in the hills was substandard, but so was every other carrier's, if I remember correctly. And the Nextel phone had the strange ability to get reception in basements and concrete buildings while other phones dropped calls. So I was ok with the Elysian Heights reception problems. But then Sprint bought Nextel. And Nextel never got improved, maybe even got a little worse, while the other carriers (including regular Sprint) improved their service (except AT&T). So, goodbye Nextel, hello T-Mobile month-to-month. Maybe when Sprint gets the iPhone I'll try them out... .although I should know better!

I switched from Nextel last week. So far, I have been delighted. Not a single dropped call from my end. I had to buy the smiley phone in order to get a month to month contract. I was determined not to get trapped in a year- long contract for yet another carrier whose reception zone required me to swivel my head and hold exactly so in order to complete a call. When I first got the Smiley phone, I thought - what a cheap piece of crap! Now that I've used it more, I feel a little differently: it's still the Hyundai of cell phones, and it's "OS" is sometimes very illogical, but the keyboard is actually quite usable, belying its diminuitive scale, and the call quality is decent, even when on speakerphone. Maybe I should buy a Hyundai next. I use an iPod Touch as an adjunct device. That works out great - I can look up dictionary app words or stored maps or email while talking on the phone, for instance. And I really don't want web access each and every minute of the day. Continuous web access becomes more of a bodily function than a treat.
