Yesterday I was walking in the neighborhood and saw a sign addressed to fellow AT&T customers. The sign said that AT&T had stopped leasing a tower from T-Mobile in the area. It also said AT&T had no plans to reactivate the tower or increase service in the area unless enough people complained about no service. I called AT&T and their tech people confirmed this. They also told me there were several areas in LA with similar issues. There is no guarantee that service will be restored. Hopefully, enough people will complain to get AT&T to reactivate the tower. Otherwise, they will wave the early termination fee. Which is something. But not great if you just bought an expensive phone...

I always find myself to have to go outside my home to see whether I am able to get better reception (which is not cool when it's very early, very late, or cold outside). Ocassionally this helps... to some extent. It is very frustrating -- not to mention upsetting -- having to ask people if they can repeat what they just said. However, I have no problems making or receiving calls when I'm in Long Beach, Downey, Cerritos, Lakewood, and a few other southeastern communities.

had amazing reception in laurel canyon for years... then about 3 weeks ago, my phone started saying "no service". after numerous calls to AT&T, a manager gets on the phone and tells me "the government took their tower and gave it to another carrier", "i should leave AT&T, and he offered me out of my contract". "if I wanted to contact anyone about this, I should contact the fcc!" this is unbelievable--they are wrecklessly switching out areas--are we not profitable enough? do they have no obligation to communicate with customers? help!

Awful reception even outside, running around on the street. Forget about trying to make a business call, or anything significant. Wonderful service AT&T! Yes!

Used to get one or two bars at home - enough to still get SMS, emails and see when a voicemail had come in. Fair enough for deep canyon living. But as of 2 weeks ago, when I am at home, my Blackberry now reads SOS in place of bars, and callers can't even get through to my voicemail, much less me in person. So after repeated calls to AT&T, they tell me they have changed the coverage in the area 'to improve the overall quality of network coverage'. After some heated discussion, they agreed to release me at no charge from my contract so I can find a cellphone provider that will actually let me use my cell phone in my house... otherwise coverage round town was OK. but useless for living in the hills.

no service in the house since about three weeks ago. seemed to coincide with the purchase of new phones. We had the same service before with our old phones without and issue. AT&T representatives were quite oblivious when we called to complain. I guess I may need to cancel my service.
