AT&T is the worse cell phone service provider. It sucks that they sell the Microcell 3G to get better service at $170. Why wouldn't they just fix their service instead of having consumers buy additional equipment for better service? To make matters worse, I purchased the Microcell and it worked for 28 days and no longer worked since then. I spoke with 14 customer service reps in regards to the problems that I was having and it was the worse customer service that I have ever experienced. I was even on hold for 28 minutes and 44 seconds before I even was able to speak to a customer service agent. I put up with their bad service for 10 years and the only reason why I have stayed with them is because of the iPhone. My contract has ended and I don't even care about the iPhone. What's the point of having a iPhone when you can't make calls? DO NOT GET AT&T!

I bought this HTC HD2 recently but T-Mobile has very low coverage here, I also tried with Garminfone same result. No 3G at all maybe 1 bar with Edge.

My Verizon reception has been getting crappier and crappier in my neighborhood, and I don't know why. It used to be great. As it is, there's almost nowhere in my house that I feel confident enough to make a call from. What's going on? Has Verizon lost a tower over here, or something?

I live almost smack dab in the middle of LA and walking distance to Sunset and I have HORRIBLE coverage with AT&T. I was embarrassed the other day when I was giving directions to a potential biz partner and dropped the call twice and could barley hear one another when we were connected. He did tell me, "I'll buy you a new phone so you can get rid of that prepaid phone you must be using." My contract ends in Aug and I will be getting the White HTC Evo from Sprint. Bye, bye AT&T.

I've had an iPhone for 3 yrs now, and I keep hoping and waiting for the reception to improve. It doesn't. I don't care why or whose fault it is, I just want to be able to make and take calls on my cell phone. I pay a lot of money for this service, and yet no matter where I am in LA, I drop calls, never get calls, and get voice msgs hours after they are left ALL THE TIME. This is not acceptable.

Reception bars do not tell the whole story. Okay, the reception here, according to my iPhone is just fine. I always get 4 bars or better. However, during the day downtown, I basically can't use the phone. All calls will get dropped within 1 to 3 minutes and data access is slow to non-functional. In the evenings, however, things are fine... no dropped calls and decent data access. So, the problem here isn't reception. The problem is network capacity. During the day downtown, there are just too many people trying to use the network at the same time and performance is horrible. Ever try to make a call at a sports event or another area with many many people? Doesn't work very well does it... . I imagine this phenomenon is similar in other areas of LA.

ATT coverage in Los Angeles absolutely sucks. It is a joke actually. Beverly Hills, few bars. Hollywood, few bars. My house (La Brea, LACMA, Wilshire), a damn joke. iPhone on Verizon 4G, Goodbye ATT and Good Riddance. If there is no Apple iPhone on Verizon, I may seriously say goodbye to the iPhone (and I am an Apple engineer), and hello whoever is on Verizon, it's that simple. I can no longer standby and take ATT absolute crap coverage and blatant apathy. ATT, You Gone! (Hawk Harrelson)

Unbelievable. I live smack dab in the middle of Hollywood USA, one of the largest cities on the planet, and I am CONSTANTLY dropping calls, losing all signal bars, and unable to connect via 3G with my AT&T iPhone. Driving down Fountain and Sunset Blvds, there are pockets of zero-bar no-service, for absolutely no reason. I would understand if I was up in the hills or something, but we're talking the middle of the city. WTF? I for one am counting down the days til iPhone comes out for Verizon, I used to be with them (til the iphone came out) and would go back in a hot second. It will be interesting to see what AT&T tries to do to retain the mass exodus of iPhone users who have been sick and tired of crappy service for years now; they've had plenty of time to make it right and they chose not to, so lets hope it helps drive them out of business!

Great coverage. Works well in hills and great in sfv. Gets absolutely no service in Griffith Park but no one really does. Always have full bars and great service anywhere west of la brea. Always have service in hollywood hills only problem is sometimes don't get 3g in my house but still have 4 bars of 2g which is fine for calls but slow for data. Miles ahead of AT&T no comparison and better than Verizon in the hills.

Brentwood, Los Angeles, CA 90049 Sat Mar 27, 2010

Since moving to L.A. I've tried AT&T and Sprint. Sprint's reception in Brentwood is sooo much better than AT&T's! I could never use my cell phone when I was home when I was with AT&T, but I have no such issues with my Sprint phone.

I had AT&T for a few months in 2008, but my phone NEVER worked at home (Brentwood in West L.A.). After a while, I just gave up and paid the early termination fee, and took my business elsewhere.

N Beachwood Dr... the original HollywoodLand... has ZERO reception... when I call AT&T to complain, they pretend that I am the only person to ever complain about the reception... total b*llsh*t. They claim there is 100% coverage in the area - how do they get away with that?? The sooner Apple realizes their mistake, the better...

The fact that you can't get reception for AT&T in West Hollywood, the geographic center of the country's second largest city, is ridiculous.

AT&T has horrible reception here. I can't get any calls and can't contact people. It's extremely annoying to go elsewhere just for reception. I'm switching once my contract ends.

Verizon works Great all over los angeles, never have a problem. was thinking about getting iPhone but I have learned that when i'm talking to people on iPhones, the calls always drop. and I mean always. Now, I plan to wait for the Nexus One to come to Verizon or if the Iphone ever comes to Verizon.

Recently I was working on a television show and received a voicemail to go work on the upcoming Marvel comics movie Thor. As always, the call never rang on my iPhone and I received the voicemail alert one hour later. ONE HOUR later. I was outside too, not on a soundstage (AT&T gets zero reception on soundstages). I returned the call immediately after receiving the voicemail, and had lost the job to someone else, who was able to call back before I was. Unbelievable. How can AT&T claim more bars in more places? More like NO bars in NO places. Especially in Los Angeles. Being able to answer and field calls in this town is crucial to survival. So many people have the iPhone but man having AT&T will cost you. Missing out on a big job or work due to poor cell reception is horrible. My contract is up and I'm about the switch to Verizon. Can't wait until the iPhone becomes available on Verizon.
