Reception is excellent everywhere. Usually my friends with other phone companies have less bars wherever we are even in the mountains. When a call drops it is usually their carrier. But Verizon is pricy. I am trying Sprint for 5 days and the reception at Verizon is better. I am trying to decied between spending lots of money on the best reception with Verizon Or getting free nights at Sprint starting at 6pm. Verizon also has better customer service. I had to wait 10 minutes for someone at Sprint. And to cancel service at Sprint you have to call first.

I always get pretty good reception... at least 3 bars anywhere. Although there have been instances where I get no reception at one point and then all of a sudden I get full reception... .weird...

had to switch from Cingular to Verizon, after moving to Los Feliz. Verizon has best coverage in the area of town, hands down.

Noticed I get reception on Rowena in the past month when for years I didn't. Never have reception problems at home (santa monica / virgil). Still think their customer service sux.

Verizon is almost more expensive than all the other carriers combined... but everyone in my family has it so all those minutes are free and the reception in Silver Lake seems better than any other carrier. I was told when moving here to steer away from Sprint and Cingular. My housemate has T-Mobile and has to go outside to talk or stand on a chair.

My husband and I just moved to this area and had zero to two bars both inside and outside the house. It was totally inconsistent. I had T-Mobile and he had Cingular, and we both had different phones. We were reluctant to join Verizon because their phone choices were so awful, and we both really wanted Nokia's. We made one last stop at DialNet on Melrose. Peter (very knowledgeable and honest) suggested we try phones with GSM / GPRS 850. We took home the 6230 and tried it out--it worked perfectly both inside and outside the house, AND have had no dropped calls anywhere so far. After this experience, my recommendation is to forget having to change carriers--just get a phone with GSM / GPRS 850 and hopefully it will work as well as ours--we both have the Nokia 6230 with Cingular providers and are happy to say the problem seems to be solved.
