I always find myself to have to go outside my home to see whether I am able to get better reception (which is not cool when it's very early, very late, or cold outside). Ocassionally this helps... to some extent. It is very frustrating -- not to mention upsetting -- having to ask people if they can repeat what they just said. However, I have no problems making or receiving calls when I'm in Long Beach, Downey, Cerritos, Lakewood, and a few other southeastern communities.
I'm in the Larchmont Village area. Years ago I had Verizon. Worked great then started dropping all calls. Switched to Cingular and never had a problem. Now Cingular is ATT and have only one spot in my house I can keep a call from dropping and that's if I can get reception to call out. Since I would like to get rid of my land line, Don't know who I should move to.
I am about to take the plunge and get AT&T and the iPhone. Before I do so, I must pay my respects to Verizon which never let me down coverage-wise. I will use my first two weeks to evaluate and I will be back if AT&T does not deliver (and I'll repost).
From Vine to Fairfax, and from Willoughby to at least 3rd, I get only one or two bars. Inside, outside, doesn't matter. I drop calls all the time. If you're moving to the Larchmont or Hancock Park areas, Verizon is a bad bet.
Well, I think Verizon is the only company that you get 1 or sometimes 2 bars when you're in the subway! Wow... so amazing. Such strong signals they have.
i generally get reception where ever i go. when i'm at my friend's dorm in the hills, i get 1 bar or none but i really cant complain because i got my v205 (--> now a v200) for 40 bucks! ;] tmobile is good for me. especially my plan, works wonders how i never go over my minutes now! im satisfied.
i had verizon before but their phones weren't cutting it for me. reception was good but the phone was a major problem for me.
I made the biggest mistake--switched from Nextel to Sprint. With all other carriers in the LA / Mid-Wilshire area I couldn't even get reception in my own home. Nextel was the only company that had clear reception, excellent call quality and few dropped calls. Switched to Sprint ONLY because I liked the features of their phones and I assumed they were on Nextel's network. WRONG move. No one can ever hear me and I can barely hear my callers. Will switch back to Nextel or try Cingular.
