I used to have AT&T with a Nokia phone. Reception was not great, but worked most of the time with about 2 bars. Since I switched to Cingular (when they merged with AT&T) and the GSM service, I can't make or receive calls at all from my home area. I am going to sign up for all the competition and test each one out, as I can't stand having a phone that does not work!

One Bar and it is "Analog Roaming" I just think that it is absurd that at home in Los Gatos, you can't make a cell phone call. It was better in Bejing.

verizon, despite having an office location 1 mile down the street, drops calls continuously. Blackberry 6750 usually reports -80 dBM in signal at home, but in this office location is -111 dBm, which renders the service absolutely useless. LG VX7000 is equally useless. No wonder why I use skype so much. Can't wait till VOIP bankrupts the cell phone oligopoly. Enjoy the severance while it lasts Ivan Seidenberg. You've earned it.

Reception is poor, but sometimes goes away completely. If I try to call someone when it is really bad, my phone (which says it has full strength) tells me that I can only make a 911 call.

Metro PCS said it was guaranteed to work in Los Gatos (all over). In fact I live on Kennedy Rd. and at most I get one line of reception. But most of the time I have to walk 10 minutes or so to even be able to talk on my cell phone. I find this very disappointing, I like the plans that Metro PCS offer but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone in the Los Gatos, Morgan Hill, Gilroy, or even Merced County areas. All of which Metro PCS says is in their "Coverage Area" and in fact there is no reception in any of the areas except for the bare minimum in Los Gatos and only certain areas at that.
