Low signal strength forces the phone to boost radio power resulting in less than eight hours standby times. Delivery of text messages and voice mails is slow, sometimes taking up to six hours to deliver to the phone.

Since the takeover of AT&T by Cingular I have experienced frequent dropped calls. Calls often go straight to mailbox for no apparent reason, voice mails are not delivered for hours, etc. Average signal levels are so low that the phone must boost its amplifier to where it will last less than 12 hours on standby.

Reception is lousy on a good day. Out of 10 calls all are dropped but one. In fact getting 1 bar is something to be excited about.

This is a dead zone I have reported to Verizon and they say they have no problem here. There is a 5 mile stretch on Ave. 7 (an arterial that feeds traffic from Hwy. 99 to Interstate 5) in the vicinity of Rd.23 in Madera County that is dead.
