Same problem as those on heathercliff terrible reception have to stand in a 3 foot sq. area of my home or go outside to talk. Along p.c.h. numerous drop spots. Will check out Sprint and Verizon but not optimistic about any providers service...

AT&T (attempt to talk) in Malibu is terrible. Drops everywhere, bad service on Point Dume, Zuma, non up Coral Cyn. Terrible. Oh, and not limited to Malibu, I drop calls driving down the 101 and the 10 too - in the middle of the city. Constantly bad! So... Waited and waited for Sprint to release their iphone 4s. Just pre-ordered Sprint iphone and waiting for it to be shipped... now we'll see... Many of my friends have Sprint in Malibu and it works well, hopefully Sprint will work well on the iphone 4S in Malibu too.

ATT - stands for "Attempt to Call" Really terrible service in Malibu. We only have ATT because of the Iphone, will switch to Sprint immediately when they get iPhone. Friends have Sprint and their phones always work in Malibu. My ATT has no reception from Heathercliff at Pavilionsto Kanan, along PCH, drops all throughout PCH to Santa Monica and when it does work, it's bad. Up Kanan is touch and go, drop 3-4 times to the 101. Corral Cyn, nothing, no reception at all. ATT finally gave me a booster (Microcell) for my house in PTC, free because we couldn't use the iPhones at home. If you live anywhere near Point Dume stay away from ATT.

Only doesn't work in very deep canyons. Works all along Kanan and PCH. Doesn't work well at the top of Decker or along Muholland. Works well in west San Fernando Valley.

T Mobile's coverage map indicates GOOD / MODERATE coverage in this location. Calls to customer service admitted There are coverage issues at this location, and that the "engineers are working on the problem". CS also admitted no timetable existed for fixing the problem. Bait and switch it appears to me. Any other T Mobile complaints in 90265 County Line / Boney Mountain area?

My mom lives in this area, and I am surprised by how good Sprint's coverage is when I go and visit her. With that said, it seems like once a year in the summer there is always a problem with reception. When I call and ask about the problem (I pay the bill so it is easier for me to check up on it) Sprint claims that it is due to "repairs". The thing is that she always has this problem in August. She is also not the only person with this problem. There is one spot at the bottom of her hill where you can see all the Sprint customers making calls during the downtime. We know they are Sprint customers because we have asked them what carrier they are with. Overall I am very happy with Sprint's service. I'm glad to know that at least eleven months out of the year my mom can make calls from her home, and I know I will get reception when I go to visit her. Sprint has also been nice enough to pay for the month that she does not receive coverage without having to ask for it.

I have had an issue with Sprint service since I have been here... but at one point they were considered the best option for getting reception in Malibu... but it's never been consistent. Three days ago one of their towers "needed repair". I haven't had phone service since, even though I was told the issue was fixed. I called tech support after driving to another area and using someone's house phone..they checked my phone signal, etc... my phone is fine. They have no explanation or solution, so after countless calls and attempts to fix this..they just said "sorry". I'm outta here Sprint and taking my numbers with me!

I want to get a new phone but my choice is dictated by strength of signal so that limits me to Sprint. Too bad because I really like Apple's iPhone 4 which gets ZERO reception at my house.

Blackberry Curve 2
Coastline / Kingsport Dr., Malibu, CA 90265 Sun May 02, 2010

On PCH - curve reports ~88dBm, good enough to place calls and not drop. go up coast line drive into the mesa and that signal to noise drops to -105 to -110 dBM - which means you're lucky to even get a call to place, and if you do, expect it to drop if you move an inch in the wrong direction. If you have a blackberry and want to check the SNR (signal to noise ratio, just go to Options -> Status. It's listed at the top. The lower the number (numerically) the better. For iPhone users - dial *3001#12345#* and hit call. It'll go into field test mode, and show the SNR in the upper left hand corner. To exit, just hit the home button. Why these carriers haven't put a tower on the mesa with 500+homes is beyond me.

I live in Malibu Park where there's virtually no reception. That means I can't even send or receive text messages. There is also usually no reception at the shopping center on Point Dume and on PCH in that area, between Kanan Dume Rd. and Busch Dr. If it wasn't for the iPhone, AT&T would have lost my whole family plan.

I get little recpetion, calls are often dropped or cannot be placed, internet browsing rarely works, cannot send emails unless I position the phone in specific part of the house. Call quality is absolutely terrible, at best, people say it sounds like I'm speaking from inside a tin can, at worst they can barely hear what I'm saying. This is not an issue with the phone as I've had Verizon send me a number of replacements. I even bought their network extender, which did not help and was a waste of money.

Reception with ATT is terrible. I was a customer for 14 years. Service has not improved, in fact it has gotten to the point where every call of mine is dropped. There are at least 5 dead spots. Now, I'm going to sprint.

The ONLY phone that works in my home is SPRINT. Been that way for the past 8 years. ATT folks have to go outside to the driveway to make calls. Sometimes, I'm glad when they go out.

Reception is "fair" at best at PCH and Coastline. As you go up Coastline into the Mesa, it'll drop the call (or not be able to place one) about 1 / 8th of a mile up. Reception on the mesa is terrible. You need to be outside with a line of sight of Santa Monica area to make a call -- and even then it takes 5-6 tries to get a call out.
