In major buildings (e.g. using induction protected rebar reinforced concrete) almost zero reception except for the top floor. In light construction buildings, in vehicles and out in the open, it's almost always perfect for me. In nearly every area I've been in California, my reception's been 95% flawless, there is a dead-zone over 152 next to the reservoir though.

I have been pretty content with my Nokia phone from Verizon for several years, even though I had the very occasional dropped call. I figured this was just what cell phones do and lived with it. Then I "upgraded" to a Samsung flip phone (because I could, and because it was cute). The reception was horrible! I couldn't hear half the words someone said, and it wouldn't call out, etc. Troubleshooting at Verizon told me that some calls are analog and some are digital, and the Samsung gets only digital, while the Nokia gets both. I changed back to Nokia (to a smaller, cuter phone) and everything is just peachy. What a stupid ordeal to have to go through.
