I have lived in my apt. for 3+ years with NO issues on Cingular and the now AT&T until just recently (last month or so).. Now I drop 70-80% of my calls while within my apartment. VERY FRUSTRATING.

I started way back when they had the brick phones and LA Cellular and you were lucky to have any kind of reception. I've tried all the major players and this is my conclusion. Overall, Motorola has developed, in my opinion, the best technology and durability in regards to the phones themselves. Because of my work I bought the i580 when it first came out since my last phone fell from 20 feet up and pretty much disintigrated. Short of running this i580 over with my truck, I'm very happy with its ability to survive the beating I've given it. Best investment I ever made. I had Nextel for many years, tried to find someone to beat them but ended up coming back to them now for the last 3 years. Every provider will have their dead spots, poor reception or drop calls, it can't be avoided. Being that I work indoors, outdoors and sometimes remote locations I had to find a descent provider. I have to admit, I was nervous when Sprint bought out Nextel, but so far service is, in a worse case scenario the same if not a little better. I also get a 25% discount on my service as well as any accessories because I work in the entertainment industry. Check for discounts, they do make a difference. You can check their website and see if the company you work for qualifies for any type of discount. I live in a huge complex and Nextel / Sprint is the only provider I get clear reception from. I've had friends with other providers and their reception has always been weaker or doesn't work at all. I have no affiliation with Nextel / Sprint, I just think their doing a great job with adding new technology with their phones and towers. I would say before switching, find a friend who has one, get their opinion, see if you can use their phone at your place or areas you have trouble with your current provider and see what happens. Cell phone technology isn't perfect, but for me, Nextel / Sprint has come closest to what I expect for the money I'm being charged. Free unlimited incoming calls and free unlimited PTT, (something huge in my business) doesn't hurt either. =) I don't think you'll ever find a "5", but, I gave them a "5" rating because they've beat everyone else out on performance, so far. You pay a little more for them, but if I can stay connected 95% of the time I'm using my phone, its worth it. Just my 2 cents. I hope this helps others out.

The elementary school on Tiara has very spotty coverage. Some areas outside have decent coverage, but move a few feet and the signal disappears. Inside the buildings there is no real signal. The bars can move from 3-1-0-2 and then drop in seconds time. I'm disappointed. I've been with AT&T and now Cingular for about 5 years. I'm not sure why they don't have a good signal for this area.

I've been with Verizon Wireless for over 2 years now, and get great reception everywhere pretty much, except for remote areas in the hills. Service is much better than AT&T Wireless, which I had before Verizon.

Up until three weeks ago, I had decent reception here at my house. Now I can't get calls, make calls. Very Frustrating.

I switched over to Sprint from Cellular, and I get great reception here! Even though I only get 2 bars inside my house, that was a heck of a lot better than my old phone with Cingular, and I can now call from indoors. So I'm very happy with this phone -- however, I advise anyone who wishes to do the same to be careful when switching over before your old 1- or 2-year contract expires. Apparently, I switched over with about 3 weeks left on my Cingular contract, and like a woman scorned, Cingular unleashed their fury and charged me $300 as a penalty (I had 2 lines). But I didn't care, I can now call from inside my house!

I had At&T until they merged into Cingular, and was promised that my service, which had been fine until the merger, would soon be restored by Cingular, and work better than ever with my new Cingular phone. Unfortunately, that couldn't be farther from the truth - I have been extremely unhappy with Cingular's service. Its spotty and erratic, the signal fades in and out, calls drop suddenly. The service is unpredictable, often to the point of absurdity. The bars go up and down so quickly from one second to the next that they're completely useless in indicating anything- even if you have 5 bars they can drop down to 1 at any moment. I've learned to rush my phone conversations because its almost always just a matter of time before the reception starts fading or the call drops. The signal is so volatile that it often takes several attempts before I can even make a call. I regularly get voicemail messages for calls I missed because my phone never rang. And the best part is the way the Cingular customer service people provide absolutely no assistance at all, lack any knowledge about anything, and act as though they've never heard a single complaint about their service at all. I am almost in disbelief at how bad my service with Cingular has been. I am cancelling my contract.

I always get poor- to no-service inside my house -- I have to go outside to get just a couple of bars. After reading some of the other reviews here, I'm jumping over to Sprint and see how that does.
