I have had AT&T cell service since 2003 and coverage at my home has always been poor to none. I can NEVER trust that I will get or stay on a call for more than a few seconds and I must move to a window facing north to even have a chance at receiving a call. AT&T recently told me that they were going to turn up a new cell tower on Redwood road on August 25th. So far no improvement in coverage.

LOL! I get the 'no net coverage' and the beautiful phone symbol with a red line through it. Voice mails are received seconds after realizing I have a missed called that went straight to voice mail. My sisters states that they try calling me and it go straight to voice mail. Or something I get magical voice mails that don't have a missed call log. My phone isn't dead, I just have no service. I was told I have a strong area signal when I complained about the issue. Yeah so strong, that when I stick my phone out the window in my bedroom I get no service. I get bounced back text messages. Frustrating because I had to take my number off my resume while I'm job hunting and must use a landline. AT&T will not change because they haven't got any complaints of missed calls in the area. My contract is almost up, I have no problem walking away, I've had them since 2005. I've canceled both my former landline and internet service with them because of their lack of wireless service. They pretty much told me that their signal is essentially comparable to a radio signal and I'm not guaranteed 100% coverage. But can I at least get 50% coverage from my strong area signal?

I used to have Verizon -- coverage was fine everywhere except in my home, which is also where I work, so basically 90% of the time I had no coverage. I complained many times but they were not able to do anything. I switched to AT&T and my problems are gone. Reception is good where I live and work (most important), but also good elsewhere. I've used my phone abroad also with no problems. My only issue now is that I want a new Droid 2 and AT&T doesn't carry them -- I'm hesitant to switch back to Verizon because it was soooo bad, so I think I might have to stick with a Blackberry. I hate it that carriers don't all carry the same phones.

Recently upgraded two phones and re-signed two year contract. We get next to no bars throughout apt., occasionally may get one bar on a "good" day. Calls regularly dropped. It is VERY aggravating and disappointing. We mistakenly thought we would have better service with At&t service and the upgrade of phones.

Reception is better if I go to the Broadway end of the house and non-existente at the Harrison end of the house. I have to use the phone outside on the top floor in the most westerly part of the building to have any type of serious conversation.

Service has gone downhill. I wander through my house, phone in hand, searching for a signal. Once upon a time I could call from my car in the underground garage. Then I had to move to just outside the garage. Next it was onto the street in front of the garage. Now it's down the street sometimes, so I drive slowly, searching for a signal.

In order to make a call since the switch I have to stand on my porch or go outside. Every once in a while I am able to get reception but any breath might lose the connection. It's so bad I use my landline more than my cell if I'm at home. I hate having this service.

I am on the old AT&T TDMA network. Years ago I had Cingular and could not get any reception inside the house. I switched to AT&T and their TDMA network and it has worked perfectly everywhere for years, until recently, when calls are now starting to drop -- primarily on the west end of the bay bridge. Cingular is now phasing out the TDMA network, and after reading all of these comments, I'm sorry they are doing so, since from the sounds of it, this TDMA service is the best thing going in terms of reliability. What use is a cell phone if one can't get coverage in the house / office?

I had Sprint and only was able to make / receive a call from my bedroom (luckily) and switched to Cingular not too long ago. Now I average 2-3 bars and can walk around the house without dropping the call. Although occasionally, the other end has a hard time hearing me in certain areas (especially the basement). Before I switched I checked the Cingular website for their maps and it seems to be fairly accurate. Also, my wife has Verizon (Motorola) and she says reception is terrible. Once her contract is up, she's switching to my Cingular family plan...

Now upgraded to new 2-yr contract with Cingular (probably newer version) with new Nokia 6102i phone with excellent reception all the way up Thornhill and in all rooms of house. Perhaps the newer phone is more sensitive. Conclusion... . dont blame the carrier without checking out their newest version and getting a more modern phone with better technology. I usually have to leave the phone next to the bedroom window and use my Bluetooth headset when on the phone. There appears to be no EDGE coverage -- only GPRS and GSM. Hopefully the service providers will read these comments and do something about the less-than-acceptable coverage in this area. Not sure what carrier just installed a cell tower at Mountain and Ascot but it didn't seem to help with Cingular service.
