Until last week, was using older Ericsson phone on Cingular Service (maybe older version of Cingular) with NO reception on Thornhill above the 7-11. Now upgraded to new 2-yr contract with Cingular (probably newer version) with new Nokia 6102i phone with excellent reception all the way up Thornhill and in all rooms of house. Perhaps the newer phone is more sensitive. Conclusion... . dont blame the carrier without checking out their newest version and getting a more modern phone with better technology. Last week I was in a dark closet,,, now I can see the world!
Can't walk upstairs or downstairs without the call dying; sometimes it dies as I'm pressed to the window. Walk away from the window and I go to roaming. Crummy quality, hard to hear. I'm displeased with Sprint.
Reception is OK in this part of the city. Usually I get 1-2 bars indoors (apt with concrete etc) and 2-3 bars outside. I think part of the problem is the tall buildings. Verizon should add an antenna or two near the dowtown area. Reception is better near 16th and Franklin and near Jack London Sq.
Verizons network sucks. Everytime I see one of there stupid adds I want to strangle them. Our service is so bad when I called to complain they said yes we know it is bad we have no plans to fix it and you can cancel your contract without any cancellation fees. I have tried Sprint to no avail. My next test Cingular. Why do american cell companies spends billions on BS ad campaigns and invest zero in there network.
I do not know what do do >> using Cingular and it is just terrible. How do they get away with saying fewest droped calls? Liars! I have to stand on my deck leaning over to get a call through and I can see all of oakland and sf. Anybody live up here have a solution?
I only get one bar in my apartment and calls are constantly being dropped. I get slightly better reception when I'm outside on the balcony, but then I can barely hear the person on the other end of the line. I can rarely tell when the call has been dropped because with the background noise I can't hear anything.
I get pretty much no reception downstairs. Upstairs is better, but the sound is still choppy, and if the conversation lasts more than 3 minutes it has close to a 50% chance of being dropped.
