Terrible reception. Even bought the Microcell (why in the world should I have to buy a device to make my phone work in a home that's 1300 square feet is beyond me) and still nothing. Called AT&T and they say "well the coverage map says you have good coverage". Who creates the map, a 4 year old? Took screenshots for weeks of "Call Failed" on my iPhone and sending them into AT&T so that they either update their coverage map or let us out of our contract. Ridiculous.

AT&T works reasonably well in most areas of Oceanside but they need some more cell towers to fill in soft spots of coverage around Douglas and North River road. There was a cell tower potential site sign near the intersection of Calle Montecito and North River Rd.and if / when it gets built would help out coverage tremendously, if AT&T sites an antenna farm there.

I have tried about 8 to 9 different phones. Most of them recieve about the same signal. Except for the Smartphones (Motorola Mpx200, Mpx220 and Audiovox 5600). Currently using Ericsson T39m... lets see if external antenna helps.

Switched from Nextel(Motorola i530) to Cingular because of no reception and dropping of calls in the Oceanside area. All the way up College Blvd.and down Mesa were the worst. Started with Cingular and tested the Razor. Reception seemed fine in those areas-no dropped calls but did not care for the phones comfort, couldn't hear the calls, etc. Traded the phone in for a Motorola V551 and was assured by Cingular that the phone wouldn't make a too much of a difference with reception-Back to no reception and dropped calls. The phone goes back. The phones DO make a difference with reception. Also, there is something horrible with Cingulars reception as well because everyone says I sound "jumbled"when they talk to me. Also, you can never make a call at 5:30pm. The network is always busy. And you wont get your calls either. Bye, bye Cingular. Luckily I found all this out before my 30 days.

Been a complete HELL with Cingular. I was termed a 'blue' customer because I was an ATT&T customer that HAD to convert to get a new phone after moving... (the term makes you feel like you are an orphaned child from the get go) I received a Samsung E317 (paid extra for a belt carrier and car charger) and I got maybe one bar on a good day. "No problem, we'll send you a different model." The following week I receive an LG C2000. (No accessories) It got maybe 2 bars at best, no connection, a noisy connection or that familiar 'underwater' sound. I called on a Monday and the Lady said she 'looked' at my area and determined I was in a low coverage area and wouldn't send another phone and was sending a 'return' package. I called back Tuesday and another lady said she showed the coverage area was rated 'high' where I live, couldn't understand why the other lady was contradicting her or why I could have my phone next to two other phones and have little to no connectivity while they had 4-5 bars (Cingular customers, with a Nokia or older model LG). She agreed to send me a Motorola V551 for a $74.00 extra fee as this is not a free phone offered. However there was a problem with the 'accessories' I had purchased. They would not credit my account for the items for the original E317 although the phone did not work. After I stated that I was just sending everything back and going to another provider she asked me to give her a moment so she could "make a call". (She was very polite and courteous as was the other gentleman I dealt with. Just that one Monday morning rep was curt and frankly offered little to no customer support.) She said they had agreed to credit my account for the accessories after all. I get the Motorola V551 and I get 5 bars! For about 10-15 minutes, then I get one or two bars or 'call failed'. I am not moving around the home, nor do I have anything out of the unusual in the household. For the record, I have had 5 friends spend various amounts of time at different times of day ~ all with excellent reception all Cingular customers. They have not had a problem talking to anyone or losing calls in the duration of time they were here. I will be looking for a different carrier in the morning, and sending all 3 phones back as I have not revived any 'return' items as they stated.
