Very good AT&T reception at my house by Butte College in the hills. Good in town as well.

I get about 3 bars or sometimes even more, but it is always choppy. Can never really hear anybody or the call just drops.

I've tried 4 different phones here, and all have bad reception most of the time. Included are Virgin Mobile, Verizon, Trac Phone, and Straight Talk---all had bad reception at my address. All work fine down in Oroville. Why don't they put a tower in my back yard. We're high up on a hill above Oroville. Perfect location for a cell phone tower.

Range of reception on iPhone varies from 2 bar 3G to no service! Whatever the cell bars, my wife cannot reach me from Chico; sometimes can. Very iffy reception... can't figure why it varies so much without affecting being able to receive a phone call. Irritating!

I'm in the Cherokee foothills above Oroville. Used to have an ATT TDMA phone and service was great. Use to have a wireless card, and good internet. Have had GSM phone Last 4 years, service continuing to degrade to almost useless at home. Dropped ATT wireless card because rarely worked, and got Verizon wireless card which provides fast internet. ATT won't disclose where their towers are, but I was told old towers retired and replaced with newer towers which obviously aren't working well with my phone. My phone works great in city (Oroville and Chico). Salemen trying to get us to buy new phones, but I would have to get a new rate plan (can't use my current family plan which is much cheaper). I've complained to ATT repeatedly last 2 years about lack of service. Can't call out by Butte College, get dropped calls south of Chico on 99. Get dropped calls between Marysville and Sacramento on 99. You would think ATT would provide better coverage in such major traveled areas. May be switching to Verizon soon if ATT doesn't deliver better service!

Sometimes if I wander around in the back yard and get get a bead on the casino building I get 1 or 2 bars. Can usually send and receive text messages from front yard. Have to go 2-3 miles to pick-up voice mail or make a call.

Don't get AT&T cell phone if you live in the east foothills of Oroville!

I get no reception at my house, in fact I have to drive 2 miles to be able to get a call out. Even then reception is hit or miss. I sometimes get reception on 5th Ave by Burger King. Yes... the middle of town. I don't get reception at the municipal auditorium. Yes, on a hill out in the open. T-Mobile customer service is number 1, and if the service worked the price would be great. Worst mistake of my life to sign a 2 year contract for a service I can't use. I've heard that Motorola phones get terrible reception, but I'm not willing to sink more money into another phone or into extending a plan to find out.

I use Cingular and have no reception. My son has verizion and get 2 to 3 bar's inside our house. My daugher uses Nextel and get's 4 bar's inside our house.
